Boy Commandos no. 5 (Winter 1943) cover by Jack Kirby with Joe Simon. During WWII this was one of DC’s top selling titles. A couple decades later, Kirby would use a similar concept (ragtag, diverse group of fighters) to launch Sgt Fury & his Howling Commandos. #JackKirbyMonth
Comic writer Roger McKenzie passed away earlier today. He was 75. Roger was the main writer of Daredevil when he was assigned a young new penciller, Frank Miller. Roger showed him the ropes and handed off the writing reins to Frank with issue #168. Condolences to his family friends and fans.
Hey, you can contact Dan Patrick here, and maybe you should! It's up to you if you start the conversation with "you, good sir, are a little bitch" like I did.

The biggest target I've ever seen on my books. Texas placed Banned Book Club and Occulted on a state-wide list of illegal "dirty books." Having them in any school could lead to state takeover where the government could shut down the library entirely and convert it into a student detention center.
AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON was released 45 years ago today. One of the most popular horror-comedies out there, and with groundbreaking effects work, the behind the scenes story will make you beware the moon… 1/39
Back in the land of killer breakfast tacos. Joe’s Bakery on Austin’s East Side. So damn good!

The fact that mycomicshop feels the need to provide this option shows that even they know their owner is an unhinged kook.
Picked this up the other day in Detroit for 12 bucks. I’m a little bummed it’s in black & white, but still a pretty fun collection of Barks’ non-duck stories.
Sitting in my hotel, hiding from the dramas of this great big world, Seven stories high, looking at the world go by-y. Sitting in my hotel room, thinking about the countryside and sunny days in June. Trying to hide the gloom, sitting in my hotel room.
I don’t generally see this song in the running for ZZ Top’s greatest , but it’s my favorite. It opens the studio side of their best album, Fandango, which is a perfect side of vinyl. And the live side is great, as well! youtube.com/watch?v=1__B...

I’m still on tour and away from home until this weekend, and I’ve run out of “new” pics of comics for #JackKirbyMonth, but I still have a bunch saved on my phone. So here’s one. The Demon no. 1, which our kitty defaced way back in 1972, but I still have it. One of my faves. Inks by Mike Royer.

Action page from Journey Into Mystery no. 107 (1964) as reprinted in Marvel Tales no. 20 (1969). Art by Jack Kirby with Chic Stone. Stone seems pretty faithful to Kirby’s pencils, especially compared to other inkers at the time. Love it. #JackKirbyMonth
Found a pic of the Spidey one on eBay. Looks pretty cool!
I always forget about this piece. I've had this inflatable pillow from 1968 for 30 years or more (a gift from a friend). I blew it up to test it once, but it is stored flat. I was horrified today to find that it had developed some mold inside of it, thus tanking the value. I still love it.

It’s kinda weird that there’s no complete Barney Bear cartoon collection on dvd or Bluray.
