Marvel Tales Annual no. 2 (1965) cover by Jack Kirby (inked by, Reinman, Ayers) and Steve Ditko (Dr. Strange). The 2nd annual issue and first ever reprintings of the first issues of Avengers and X-Men, plus Dr. Strange’s origin, and an early Hulk story. All for 25 cents! #JackKirbyMonth

Multiple little vignettes: Avengers, X-Men, Hulk, Dr. Strange. The whole thing is littered with ad copy touting the greatness of the stories inside

Marvel Tales Annual no. 1 (Sept 1964) cover by Jack Kirby, inked by Sol Brodsky ex. Spider-Man figure by Steve Ditko. This long running reprint series began as an Annual for its 1st 2 issues. This was the 1st time these stories were reprinted, only 1 or 2 years after 1st appearance. #JackKirbyMonth

A 6 panel grid, each panel featuring a different character: Spider-Man, Hulk, Giant-Man & the Wasp, Thor, Sgt. Fury, Iron Man. The book features the origins of each of these characters.

Marvel Super Heroes no. 27 (July 1970) cover by Jack Kirby with inks by John Verpoorten. One of the last new Kirby covers on a reprint book at Marvel before he moved over to DC. Also the last X-Men reprint in this title; after this, the X-Men book became all reprints for 5 years. #JackKirbyMonth

The Hulk is being attacked by the Leader’s android army. Meanwhile, Daredevil battles Sub—Mariner.

Marvel Super-Heroes no. 23 (Nov 1969) cover by Jack Kirby with inks by George Roussos (X-Men) and Vince Colletta (Daredevil). Please note the Scarlet Witch is actually colored scarlet on this reprint of the cover of X-Men no. 4, where she was colored green for some reason. 🤷🏻‍♂️ #JackKirbyMonth

Magneto and the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants glare down at miniature representations of the X-Men. And in a small vignette across the bottom, Daredevil confronts The Owl

Another #squareboundsaturday is upon us! What’s a squarebound you love? It’s also #JackKirbyMonth so this one is doing double duty. I love the old reprint books that have new covers like this. Marvel Super-Heroes no. 22 (Sept 1969) cover by Jack Kirby with John Verpoorten.

Black Rider no. 1 (Sep 1957) cover by John Severin. The only issue of this series, it has 3 Jack Kirby stories featuring the title character. A 2nd issue was prepared, but never published. Its stories would appear in various anthology comics like Gunsmoke Western. Beautiful cover #WesternComicsMonth

The Black Rider prepares to slap leather with a desperado as the townsfolk scatter for cover.
