Cool, but useless.

A fly-by ski trip generated entirely in #RStats with #rayshader and #rayrender, featuring realistic lighting for that location at a specific date and time, properly marked roads, trails, ski trails, streams, lakes, houses, and 2 million (!) individually rendered trees! All generated from {sf} data!

Happy to announce this little release of recipes! This releases comes with a new way to look inside a recipe partway through, a speedup for steps that are applied to many columns, and multi-column support in step_regex() and step_count(). opensource.posit.co/blog/2026-08... #rstats #tidymodels

recipes 1.4.0

recipes 1.4.0 is now on CRAN. This release adds a `stop_at` argument to `bake()` for inspecting a recipe partway through, makes `prep()` and `bake()` dramatically faster on wide data, and lets…

#RStats pink cuboids * signed distance field: {csgr} * isosurface extraction using naive surface nets: {isosurface} * rendering via {rayrender} & {rgl} Each cuboid = function interpolated sphere/cube, repeated infinitely, evaluated within a 2x2x2 volume to concretize a triangulated mesh

3d rendering of a stack of pink cuboids using {rayrender}3d rendering of a stack of pink cuboids using {rgl}Definition of the cuboid structure. Each cuboid is a 50/50 interpolation between a sphere and cube. The cuboids are then repeated at a spacing of 1.35.

#RStats compatibility-breaking, Ill-considered syntax hot take: change my mind! In addition to "$", R should also allow using "." and "->" for accessing named members of lists and environments If x <- list(a = 1) Then the following are equivalent x$a x.a x->a

After many years of using various incarnations of it in my own #bioinformatics workflows, I've finally packaged up {corner} and released a development version on GitHub. For those moments in #rstats dev when you just want a quick peek at the corner of a table. github.com/lpembleton/corner

Do I know anyone who knows anyone who knows A LOT about the coupled-clock mechanics of SA node cells so they could read some paragraphs I wrote for a general audience and tell me how badly I %$&ed up my explanation?
