Before I model this in Blender, I have to understand how it was wrapped in real life. So a bit of A4 and a Rubik's Cube...

If I don't get my Christmas decorations made now, I never will. Thanks to a lovely off-screen picture from @transdiffusion.org , here's how it's going so far. This being 60 years ago is truly terrifying. #blender3D
My blog post about making 1968 in colour and in widescreen is finally finished: www.kecskebak.hu?p=733 Many, many thanks to @transdiffusion.org, @fasttunesltd.bsky.social and @aldupres.bsky.social for their generosity.
1968 In Colour
One of the nice things about writing a blog is that readers will often respond with information or pictures that add more to the subjects that you have been writing on. I have recently written blog posts about BBC Network symbols that incorporate the Olympic rings, and BBC “polo mint” clocks and as a result [...]

I haven't finished the blog post yet, but with thanks to Martin Fenton of @fasttunesltd.bsky.social here's 1968 in colour. youtu.be/E5pP_EwlB8E?...

Video editing using Kdenlive is something I haven't done in a while. I really think Test Card D looks good in widescreen - it seems so much less cluttered. I'm still heavily into 1968 so I don't know if I should be listening to the White Album or The Hangman's Beautiful Daughter.
Can't sleep so I'm playing with my globes. Interesting how the Himalayas becomes "random polyfilla" on the original.
It's getting there. The main reason for this is I've always wanted to be able to use Ronnie Hazlehurst's "Guitars".
I got this t-shirt to celebrate getting a new job. Then, yesterday, after a long silence they told me they didn't want me after all and had given the job to someone else. #oneforsorrow

Eight’s A Wish
It’s been a hot summer, so I’ve certainly had a lot of wear out of my t-shirts. However, I had to retire a few worn-out shirts recently and due to uncertainty around my employment I didn’t replace the...

This post covers several of my favourite subjects, so it will ramble all over the place. Apologies for that, but here we go… Sticking some kind of disc over the centre of an onscreen clock mechanism i...

My goodness, special Apollo symbols seems to be a regular thing on BBC1 network presentation. I should have checked Dave Baldwin's YouTube channel before writing my article. Here's a look at the Apollo 14 symbol in the Noddy room. youtu.be/agKiATDgdBs?...

Thanks to @aswiseman.bsky.social for letting me know about the existence of this. A special Olympic Symbol from the BBC in 1972. I'm just knocked this up quickly as an experiment... youtu.be/kpYq1zqVsmE

Prospero of the great globe itself – Stupid Rubbish
kecskebak.hu
@aswiseman.bsky.social sent me a scan of Alan Jeapes' Prospero typeface, so I've been playing about putting it into FontForge, via Inkscape. Still some work to do, but hope to be releasing this soon for anyone to play with. The typeface was used with 1985's COW BBC1 globe.
I used to love Fry's Five Centres, so maybe one day I should give this a go! www.instagram.com/reel/DYT1rxA...

There's a little problem with the font rendering on Firefox on Linux, but I'd have loved this as a child.

My old TSW t-shirt lasted six months and 70 washes, which is pretty good. They do make me feel a little less homesick.
Hungary has just got rid of Thatcher only to replace her with Tony Blair. I'm sure it'll all go splendidly.
