I don't disagree but I think this downplays how Trump came up in NYC an industry noted for its corruption, at a time when it was especially corrupt, and in an era where bribes were not unheard of and the mob was still pretty active.

I think I've said this before but it's striking that the Trump administration has no concept of positive policy. The only thing they can imagine doing with the federal government is inflicting misery and paying off bribes, because that's what they've been told the government does for fifty years

This is VERY MUCH the thing that worries me about the next several years. So many things have been dismantled that I'm not sure anyone has the will or power to reassemble. So many things have been lost that may not be replaced, as long as people treat all of this as just another political ball game.
