social & community strategy for great indie games! now: Unpacking 📦, Go-Go Town! 🏗️ , Momento 🦖 // past: DREDGE 🎣 , Tempopo 🌷 Valley Girl. I write theinternetexplorers.club, a newsletter about weird internet things. I made arrestedwesteros.com a while ago
Our AC is out in our apartment (which means it's 80° inside), and I opened a short story I was working on and the scene I had left was a detective sweltering in the LA heat wanting to dive into a pool. Art imitates life, babyyyy
Brief trip back to the ol’ alma mater, with a friend who wanted to revisit the library basement and its rolling shelves as much as I did (thank god) and then swung by the battlefield as you do
Pretty dang excited about this milestone!!
Excited to announce that we have officially welcomed ✨ 100,000+ mayors since our v1 launch! ✨ To celebrate, we've put together a video highlighting some of our favourite community-built towns AND we're adding some new décor into the game! 👀
yeah man "woke 1" sucked ass. I "woke 1" morning from uneasy dreams to find myself transformed into a giant insect
I was hoping for your help with something. (Please RT for reach.) Is there a particular font that’s instantly recognizable to someone who lives where you do, and appreciated/recognized/hated there, but completely unknown elsewhere? Road signs, street names, transit, infrastructure, stuff like that?
If you've ever thought about why two Japanese cities were obliterated or President Truman's role in the decisions, read this thread. It's probably not what you thought!
81 years ago today, on August 9, 1945, an atomic bomb was dropped upon the city of Nagasaki, Japan, by the United States. This was 3 days after the first atomic attack on Hiroshima.
Today is the 81st anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima. For @thebulletin.org, I wrote a short piece on the curious story of the "Hiroshima Maidens," and what it tells us about the complicated politics of memory. thebulletin.org/2026/08/the-...
The political implications of Hiroshima’s scarred “maidens”
In May 1955, 25 young Japanese women, all of whom had been schoolchildren who survived the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, were flown to the United States. They became known in the press as the “Hiroshim...

In grad school, I took a class on memory and the atomic bomb, which included an extended trip to Hiroshima & Nagasaki for the anniversaries of the bombings. We toured sites, attended memorial events, and had the honor of meeting many hibakusha. It is not exaggerating to say it was life-changing.
Gutted to hear about Glen Hansard's passing. The songs from ONCE never fail to get me choked up & I saw him perform a 1.5 hour set in DC that ended with the entire venue singing The Parting Glass. One of the most beautiful moments one could ask for. We deserved so much more time with him.

I loved playtesting this, and it’s so, so exciting to see new Myst stories 📖 I hold hope in my heart that they’ll see the light of day someday!
Over a year ago, we built a prototype for a new Myst Universe game meant for publisher eyes only. This project is NOT in active development, but we're proud of the work the team did, and wanted to share it with you all. Presenting: Project Anglerfish. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZvNGt02yZNc
cute pop up at SDCC from this adorable island in New England that definitely isn’t haunted, can’t wait to visit for sunset cocktails #widowsbay
All my life I've wished I could pull off Slutty Loam but only managed Sandy Gay.
I've been working with the Prideful Sloth team since 2023 (!), was delighted by the game then, and it's truly even better now—so much fun, so weird & great with friends! GO (go) buy it!! (plus you can invite me as an NPC to your town & I just ask you to sell sushi—driving a hard bargain, I know)
Go-Go Town! is now accepting new mayors! 🏗️🛠️ Plan neighborhoods, automate logistics & grow your community—all while juggling workers, infrastructure, and day-to-day chaos to create your dream town. Play solo or with friends! OUT NOW on Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch & PC
If I could make everyone watch LOCAL HERO, I would, this among many many reasons
[LOCAL HERO] Lancaster has an imperial romantic aura; he belongs there, on top of a tower under the stars, and I doubt if there are many actors who could convey so much just by standing there. (1983)
That physical editions are quick, easy, and simple to achieve and that somehow devs haven’t realized this
game devs: what are the myths that a lot of players of games think are true about making games that are completely untrue? If you could snap your fingers and they suddenly all knew the truth about it what would it be?
For DOOMSDAY MACHINES this week I wrote a bit about the production and availability of photographs of Hiroshima's damage from the ground in the 1940s and 1950s. Features some dark photographs and perhaps an even more disturbing cover of LIFE magazine from 1952... doomsdaymachines.net/p/hiroshima-...

Kicking off a little re-introduction to Go-Go Town! now that we are less than a month (!) out from 1.0 🫨 (and in related news, I will forever be grateful that we have the incredible @mootrix.bsky.social making videos for us, she has made a masterpiece here)
You've been "carefully selected" to rebuild a town, manage its economy, welcome tourists, automate production & prove that "organized chaos" is a valid governing philosophy. Please read the following manual carefully. Or don’t 🤷🏽 That seems to be how most Mayors operate.
Spent this weekend as a true child of my father: going to an octogenarian geologist's rock and fossil open house, impulse purchasing a Thomas Guide from 1999 on eBay, then taking Dad out to lunch and talking about film formats
what is a legacy / it's planting seeds in a garden you have yet to see

One of the busier weeks of my life BUT culminated with 3️⃣ announcements in Wholesome Direct this past weekend! 🧸 @playmomento.com surprise launch!! 🏗️ @gogotowngame.com coming to 1.0 & Switch July 16!! (+ new key art!) 📦 @unpackinggame.com X @paralives.com collab, which I got a lil emotional about 🥹
I’m glad CATS won several Tonys, all very deserved but man it *deserved* best revival. I’ve been thinking about it ever since we saw it - how truly transformative it is. An all-timer!
me seeing I Love Boosters at the Laemmle instead of using my AMC A-List
Freeman Tilden, Interpreting our Heritage—published in 1957 but an incredible synthesis of how to present history and information to the public David Roediger, The Wages of Whiteness: Race and the Making of the American Working Class—blew my hair back when I first read it, still incredible
I’m curious, so, historians (broadly defined), give me two book titles: One: the one history book IN your field (however you define it) that is the absolute best, that everyone should read. Two: the one history book OUTSIDE your field that you think is absolutely the best.
