i know everyone has been dying for my take on emily wilson's review of nolan's odyssey and so here it is. it should be an embarrassment to whoever edited it. when a writer files copy like that, you should know how controversial it will be and go above and beyond to help them shore up their take.

(Microsoft voice) technically they didn't die from poison. they died because their organs couldn't handle the poison. it's not my fault they're too weak to metabolise all the poison I put in their food and mouth and eyes

now I’ve seen The Odyssey, here are my thoughts: - CGI was incredible - love how they mixed myth into a modern story - not sure why everyone was yellow - I don’t think they had denim overalls in Ancient Greece - or goggles, come to think of it - Odysseus’ obsession with bananas is NOT canon

For maximum fidelity to the original, they should have done the entirety of The Odyssey in the style of the Fresh Prince of Bel Air rap. It’s the closest thing we have to the oral tradition

I wish it was more cool that so many people are talking about The Odyssey 🥲 I spent 7 years studying that book! In Ancient Greek!! For my degree!!! I have a lot of complex and interesting thoughts!!!! But everyone is so angry about it 😭

they let me write a Godfather quest for Hello Kitty Island Adventure! In this quest, My Sweet Piano reads -- and misunderstands -- a magazine about the Mafia, and wants to learn more about it...

one of the best skills a writer can have is reusing and repurposing existing assets in new ways. so I wrote a bunch of Hello Kitty Island Adventure Quests about giant food and bugs >:3

a really big pizza on top of a building in Hello Kitty Island Adventurea really big strawberry and cake with an umbrella to protect it from the raina gigantic colourful caterpillar wiggles across the street in a citybadtz-maru, a black sort of cat-creature from the sanrio universe, says “can you imagine if there was a huuuuge squeakle” which there is, right behind him. the player can say “I can imagine” or “oh dear”

Sometimes you can lose a writer that knows all of the branches and how they intersect and if you lose that person then you risk basically breaking your entire game pipeline

One of the things that, as lead writer, I had to bang into the head of senior leadership sometimes was that writers were not interchangeable even within a project. One writer knew a certain companion inside and out. When we lost that writer, a new writer coming in took twice as long to do the work.
