It’s clearly worrying to have 2 train derailments within 2 days.My thoughts are with all those affected & grateful thanks to the rail staff & emergency workers who have been supporting passengers. Once the RAIB complete investigations, the Transport Committee will have a chance to look at the issue.

Very welcome news that Andy Burnham is introducing a £2 fare cap on buses. Last year we published a report about the benefits that the cap brings which showed that it helped to increase journeys & that a rise in fares would hit those outside of urban areas the hardest.

When the Lifetime ISA was introduced in 2017 a £450,000 cap was imposed when buying new properties in London. The cap has not been raised since and this is stopping many of my constituents from being able to benefit from the LISA. I've asked the Government to look at raising or modifying the cap
These are really welcome comments from Andy about council housing- especially the fact that we are still paying for this policy through the many billions we give to private landlords via the benefits system. Right to buy was designed in a destructive way & glad to see Andy being clear about this.
