Wow. What a campaign. Thank you to the 1000+ volunteers today and everyone throughout the campaign. The Green Party got 10% last time. Whatever happens tonight - we made Labour work like they never have before. I'm so proud of you all. 💚🙏🏽

Huge crowd with vote green placards

Following our recent conference, Exeter Green Party would like to reassure local residents that we continue to work with all communities across our city to build an Exeter that is safe and welcoming for everyone.

A statement on three graphics which says:

Exeter Green Party is clear that our commitment to Palestinian liberation goes hand in hand with protecting Jewish people's safety, dignity and belonging in our party, our city and beyond. Palestinian freedom and the security of Jewish people are not competing principles.

Nationally and locally, the Green Party has always opposed all forms of racism and discrimination, including antisemitism. We remain a party that welcomes all regardless of their background, faith, or place of worship.

We will continue to listen, act with compassion and work with all communities across our city to build an Exeter that is safe and welcoming for everyone."

Labour already have a huge majority. Another Labour MP putting Thames Water "on notice" isn't going to lower our water bills or protect our rivers. Nationalise Thames Water. Vote Green on October 8th. 💚

Today I supported the Assisted Dying Bill because I want those in the final few months of life to have the agency to shorten their suffering if they wish Last year I supported many positive amendments to ensure this bill had robust safeguards. I am disappointed it did not pass🧵

Climate breakdown is a national security threat. Nature loss puts our food, water, health, economy and stability at risk. The Government no longer has the luxury of time. We need urgent action and a dedicated Climate Protection Unit. We need a Number 10 for the future.

Israel's defence minister revealed that his Government is seeking Donald Trump's support for their plan to forcibly remove Palestinians from Gaza. Forced displacement is a war crime. When will Labour act? End all arms sales. Ban illegal settlement trade. Sanction the Israeli Government.

😔 Those least responsible for creating climate breakdown are paying the highest price. 🌏 Climate justice means the wealthiest nations paying for the loss and damage caused by our current and historic emissions.

Graphic showing rescue workers in a devastated Nepal. A quote from Dr Sunoor Verma reads, "Nepal produces a rounding error's worth of the world's carbon emissions. It is now paying, in bodies and bridges, for a century of someone else's industry." A slogan reads: CLIMATE JUSTICE NOW.

Rest in Power Professor Jason Arday 💚 ✍️ Exeter Green councillor Bernadette Chelvanayagam reflects on the death of Professor Jason Arday and urges us to learn the importance of kindness. ⬇️ Link to full blog in thread.

A quote graphic: "Professor Jason Arday’s death has shown us once again that race, the cost of public attention and scrutiny cannot be separated from the racialised ways vulnerability, Black achievement and alleged failure are publicly judged."

Last week Zack demanded that the UK government hold an emergency COBR meeting in response to the climate emergency. The Prime Minister Andy Burnham has finally listened to this call; the PM must set out his plans for how will keep this country safe today and how he will prepare for threats to come.

A quote graphic from Zack Polanski leader of the Green Party saying: "When the country is burning and people are dying, the PM had to call this meeting. But this is only a first step. What we urgently need is concrete action. That must include taxing fossil fuel giants to pay for firefighting helicopters, a cool space in every community, and a maximum working temperature. The prime minister must also commit to no new oil and gas extraction in the North Sea. We cannot negotiate with the science."

Reform’s leaders peddle rhetoric around climate change denial. Their councils act on it. Last month, Reform-run Suffolk County Council scrapped its climate emergency declaration. Now, as a wildfire tears through the county, we are seeing exactly why climate action should not be abandoned.
