DRIPA has always been simple: the path forward lies in actually implementing it, not weakening it. It was a real honour to work with Grand Chief Stewart Phillip on this article. vancouversun.com/opinion/why-...
May Victor Orbán simply be the first in a string of countries engaging in overdue housecleaning by kicking their authoritarian leaders to the curb.
The more global crises converge, the more this becomes an absolutely critical frontier of struggle. We need to control the unfettered and violent companies that drain life from people and the earth.
The struggle for a #BindingTreaty on transnational corporations and human rights is far more than a struggle for corporate regulation. It is a struggle for life, dignity and the sovereignty of peoples long sacrificed on the altar of corporate profit. Read the report here👇 bit.ly/48w1DiW
For a Feminist and Just Energy Transition We need a #FeministEconomy to transform the energy system It's time to dismantle corporate power and democratise energy through distributive and regenerative models, owned by the people Read here 👇 bit.ly/4lJllw7
All smiles in Winnipeg as we welcome @avilewis.ca as the new leader of the federal NDP! It's been a hard-fought campaign with tremendous results (he won more votes than all the others combined). Tomorrow the work begins! ✨✊🏽
Canada's foreign policy in the Middle East amounts to saying if Israel even imagines it could be attacked, it's perfectly justified in not only retaliating but doing preemptive strikes. If Iran is attacked, it should just accept that, and if it defends itself it should be further punished.

happy to be able to share the full video of my discussion with Karen Hao last week. AI has entered its lethal phase, embedded in illegal wars and mass shootings. We deserve democratic spaces to debate this for-profit dystopia. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z1B_...

Canada could deliver fuel to Cuba. Every day @mark-carney.bsky.social is choosing not to do so.
Around 11 million people in Cuba are in the dark amid an island-wide blackout, officials say.
This headline alone is chilling. Exactly why internationalism must be the backbone to climate policy. We cannot accept exploitative trade agreements, military expansion and policies that choke the global south – these should be core climate justice priorities. gvwire.com/2026/03/16/u...

As fun as it sounds, no mayoral plans for me. I've been focused on building the Padma Centre for Climate Justice, a new political education and organizing project. Our new newsletter just dropped today: padmacentre.substack.com/p/welcome-to...
Welcome to the Padma Centre for Climate Justice
Indigenous land defenders and a new generation of climate activists have centred climate justice in the environmental movement, but our movement is still not truly internationalist in nature.

Recall the spike in oil prices when Russia invaded Ukraine. The companies then used the economic shock to price gouge as well. The war was a windfall for them, a lucky break.

This is such a genuinely great conversation with these good people. Highly recommend!
Our 6-Marker series closes with Ep. 6, which explores Indigenous rights and leadership in real climate emergency action. Erin Blondeau, Janelle Lapointe, Serena Mendizabal, and Seth Klein discuss sovereignty and community-driven solutions. 🎧 Listen to Episode 6: www.buzzsprout.com/2451788/epis...
Mark Zuckerberg is building a data center in Louisiana that will use 3x more electricity than all of New Orleans. Oligarchs want YOU to pay for these data centers with higher water & electric bills. Americans must fight back against billionaires who put profits over people.
.@avilewis.ca' climate policy is a distillation of decades of movement demands. It doesn't tinker - it goes right to the heart of it: standing up to parasitic industries & installing institutions that serve actual human & more-than-human wellbeing. #climatejustice lewisforleader.ca/ideas/green-...

Today's budget was underwhelming and troubling. Our leaders always have the choice of who makes the "sacrifice" — everyday people, the most vulnerable, big corporations, or the most wealthy. This budget asks us to tighten our belts while military & oil companies find themselves flush with cash.
Budget 2025 shows that ‘austerity’ applies to efforts to protect people and the planet—but that more money can always be found for military spending and polluting industries. Read our full analysis & members' quotes on the federal budget and Climate Competitiveness Strategy. ⬇️ shorturl.at/z1ueW
It's winning time!!! Mamdani's win caps off a brilliantly run campaign and gives us a shot in the arm for what movements already know: that we can & will win by telling the truth, demanding big things & refusing to dance with the establishment. Now watch the doubters pretend they were in all along!
Democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani won the New York City mayoral race on Tuesday, marking a historic win for the left over a high-powered, moneyed coalition of establishment forces that came together in hopes of defeating him.
The numbers say it all: 💰 Global North paid climate finance since 2015 = $280bn 🛢️ Profits for oil & gas companies headquartered there = $1.3tn Rich countries paid a fraction of their owed climate debt - while cashing in on the crisis they caused: oilchange.org/publications...
I actually don't think Canadians should prepare to make sacrifices so the military budget and AI investments can be scaled up, ultimately benefitting private contractors and big businesses.
Israel is piling crime on top of crime on top of crime. No wonder it is determined to bring down the entire edifice of international humanitarian law - it's the only hope of protecting itself from consequences. Btw: the allegations are significantly worse than bedbugs.
Greta Thunberg says she is being detained by Israel in cell ‘infested with bedbugs’
Full solidarity with the flotilla, which represents the very best of humanity. And eternal shame to the European states who refused to protect it from Israeli assault and establish a corridor for aid to Gaza.
You are not seeing this slaughter live-streamed to your devices because Israel has murdered most of Gaza’s most prominent journalists in targeted assassinations.
