As someone who sat on the Education Policy Institute’s working group on disadvantage gaps during covid, I’m under no illusions about the enormous educational and psychological harms of school closures – especially for working‑class and BME children. Those impacts are real and must not be downplayed.

Glad someone senior from the sector is pushing back. Labour MPs need to understand the serious real anger from graduates and the people who produce them. And the dangerous financial situation they have allowed to fester, or indeed worsened, in one of Britain’s leading sectors.

We've long called for investment in the advice sector workforce to help tackle the recruitment crisis. We welcome the Department for Work and Pensions' announcement on Youth Guarantee opportunities. Apprenticeships are a positive step forward in building an advice sector workforce of the future.

However, more action is needed to address the workforce crisis. The Government should introduce a National Advice Workforce Strategy and commit to further investment in the sector. #AdviceSaves #AdviceWorks
