Fuck this shit sucks. The pain sucks. I feel so stiff and achy. Moving is exhausting. Really hope it doesn't take too long to recover.

Been stuck in A&E most of the day. Being sent off to surgery either today or tomorrow. Getting anxious.
I almost wonder if Microsoft is going to license the brand out to other manufacturers that'll make the actual consoles instead, aligned to some specifications they set out.
Xbox Project Helix is "a family of devices," according to Xbox CEO Asha Sharma, not just a single console. "We’ve been hard at work on a great next generation and a great family of devices for Helix, and we’ll share more soon." 👀 www.theverge.com/games/986337...
After years of research, Ring: The Legend of the Nibelungen Dreamcast, (Unreleased) is finally available in its entirety! Download the prototypes, read the making-of with Arxel Tribe's founders, and discover Philippe Druillet's artwork: www.sega-dreamcast-info.com/en/dreamcast...
Well that's the Old Blood and Wolfenstein II finally finished. Both are very good. Some parts of the second one gave me Half-Life 2 vibes.
Some leftover unused Worm functions that were found by Wisi in the OPM and E3 Demo versions demonstrate quite a bit of how the colossus used to function. The found codes are named "FixWormIKWork", "FixWormIK2Work" and "WormIK2Work".
Archived some old footage my grandparents filed while they were in the USA, which may be interesting to some. Not sure exactly when it's from, either late 80s or early 90s would be my guess. archive.org/details/vhs-... Seizure warning, as the tapes were in a poor state. #preservation #digipres
VHS-C Capture USA ca. late 80s or early 90s
This is a capture of a VHS-C tape produced by my grandparents during a period where they were seemingly travelling around quite a bit for what I can only assume was a holiday.Based on some other foota...

Hm, SDL initialisation silently failing. That's probably not a good sign. *hits it with a wrench*
Okay, that's enough of r/gamedev for me. Development oriented sub-reddits are being flooded by a fast growing number of low effort vibe-coded posts and it sounds like the mods of that sub aren't going to try and keep on top of it any longer. Maybe it's about time to leave Reddit altogether.
Added in support for reloading textures. I'll probably expose an option to allow for hot loading like it does for shaders already. #gamedev #enginedev #solodev
Uh is it known that FFXI was seemingly Final Fantasy XI: Project Exodus in development?
Extracted some files from the Final Fantasy XI Japanese beta, amazing how different the maps looked! Bonus dummy map

It doesn’t always seem real to me, but here’s the story about I, the son of a boatbuilder from a small town in the North of England, became the lead designer on AvP 2010. I was 27. (I guess this is another “Aliens is 40” thing)
The concept art for Grin's cancelled Fortress project are absolutely gorgeous. Seems like such a loss this didn't really pan out.
Out now! Download for free at worm.net Thanks to @stinkyox.bsky.social for letting us do a Llamasoft level. It’s been an honour, and my favourite level in the game!
We just finished Adventure Time, and goodness, what a great show it is. Surprisingly depressing setting with a wholesome upbeat attitude against all the odds. Loved it.

Well that's sad to see. Looks like Sandy Petersen has gone down a deep dark hole of promoting crypto schemes, and using Doom as a promotional tool on top (hey, Zeni/Microsoft, maybe do something?) I legitimately thought his account was hacked at first, but nope.
Nice initiative by @jaredwhite.com: a growing opt-in directory of software developers who write code by hand. If you're coding without the use of LLMs, you're invited to add yourself to the list… handcraftedcode.org #code #coder #coding #NoAI

Super fun commission for @hogsy.me ! I was tasked to make a new set of emotes for his youtube thumbnails and I am suuuper pleased with how they turned out! What a fun and expressive character! 💛💛 [ #furry #emote #youtube #thumbnail ]
Added some simple interpolation of the light direction / amount that's pulled from the light grid as models move around. Not perfect but at least resolves the popping issue as it moves to each cell.
Made some footstep sounds the other day and hooked those up finally. I've only done sounds for wood, carpet and concrete so far but fortunately I think that's all I'll need for now. #gamedev #gamedevelopment
Uh, yeah, no? If I install Quake 4 right now the server browser isn't empty (see second image). Also this project is just vibe-coded slop; the most hilarious thing about it is the back-and-forth in the readme history as he tries to get the LLM to provide the right information.
Do we have any Atari ST experts in the house? I want to make a video on "every Space Quest on every system ever," and I want to talk to someone who can provide the most optimal ST experience for SQ1+2+3, as well as educate me on the system as a whole.
