Well that's sad to see. Looks like Sandy Petersen has gone down a deep dark hole of promoting crypto schemes, and using Doom as a promotional tool on top (hey, Zeni/Microsoft, maybe do something?) I legitimately thought his account was hacked at first, but nope.

Nice initiative by @jaredwhite.com: a growing opt-in directory of software developers who write code by hand. If you're coding without the use of LLMs, you're invited to add yourself to the list… handcraftedcode.org #code #coder #coding #NoAI

Super fun commission for @hogsy.me ! I was tasked to make a new set of emotes for his youtube thumbnails and I am suuuper pleased with how they turned out! What a fun and expressive character! 💛💛 [ #furry #emote #youtube #thumbnail ]
Added some simple interpolation of the light direction / amount that's pulled from the light grid as models move around. Not perfect but at least resolves the popping issue as it moves to each cell.
Made some footstep sounds the other day and hooked those up finally. I've only done sounds for wood, carpet and concrete so far but fortunately I think that's all I'll need for now. #gamedev #gamedevelopment
Uh, yeah, no? If I install Quake 4 right now the server browser isn't empty (see second image). Also this project is just vibe-coded slop; the most hilarious thing about it is the back-and-forth in the readme history as he tries to get the LLM to provide the right information.
Do we have any Atari ST experts in the house? I want to make a video on "every Space Quest on every system ever," and I want to talk to someone who can provide the most optimal ST experience for SQ1+2+3, as well as educate me on the system as a whole.
SabreMan / Wulf artwork for the BBC Micro version of Knight Lore. Found on Paul Proctor's original development disks. I believe some of the Spectrum animation frames were removed to save memory as the BBC Micro only has 32K RAM vs the Spectrum's 48K RAM.
Rolled out a new update for the Data Dungeon site. This also includes some major layout changes; let me know if you spot any issues and I'll try to sort them as soon as I can. archive.thedatadungeon.com/changes.html... #datapreservation #digipres #preservation

Over a year ago, we built a prototype for a new Myst Universe game meant for publisher eyes only. This project is NOT in active development, but we're proud of the work the team did, and wanted to share it with you all. Presenting: Project Anglerfish. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZvNGt02yZNc
Overhauled a lot of the my renderers OpenGL backend to use DSA and now I'm getting some very strange hitching seemingly at random. Guess I'll have to investigate that tomorrow 😮💨
Damn that’s cool what happened to the guy who was running their old program www.windowscentral.com/gaming/xbox/...

I never received a response to this so I guess by "modern" C++, Scott actually means trivially fixed things like this which would take an hour, even less, across a relatively small codebase like this. There's nothing actually in here otherwise that I can see that's been updated to "modern" C++.
I didn't have three weeks to modernize 30 year old C++. Getting the 90s codebase to compile without razzle, using modern C++, not to mention hidpi was the kind of undertaking that previously took a team. Not an exaggeration. I wanted to be able to release a version that actually still ran.
I'll write my own code myself until I die, but I am noticing a lot of communities are becoming ever more accepting of it for programming. Urban Chaos, Red Faction and Oni circles include people using it to maintain community patches. I hate it, but I don't think enough people care...
"actually its fine if agentic code is unmaintainable for humans because the agents will just maintain it" is just the next cope in a long series of copes from LLM true believers who said they were going to revolutionize customer support, summaries, art, writing and video, all of which they failed at
"[...] we’ve included a few AI-powered modernization attempts that demonstrate what’s possible [...]" It's great you guys released and preserved this, but is it literally impossible for Microsoft to do anything without mentioning AI?

Oh my god, I love that they've done an Adventure Time episode with the other voice actors from Futurama. That's so awesome lol It's "Everything's Jake" if you're curious.
Today we're releasing a long lost proto of Tiny Troops for PC DOS - due for release in 1995 by Mindscape. Also adding a staggering 32 prototype builds from 1993-1994, when the game was originally known as Bugs. Sadly the CD32 version is still at large. www.gamesthatwerent.com/2026/01/tiny...
That's Binary Domain done, and hell yeah that was a fun time. Cheesy as hell, just the way I love it. That said the frame rate was the worst I've seen of any PS3 game, it was bordering on unplayable at some points.
Another release of my Jaded project (fork of Ubisoft's Jade engine). Small one this time with some bug fixes, as I've just not had the time or motivation or late. github.com/hogsy/jaded/...

Binary Domain has one of the cooler installation screens I've seen. It's dumb as hell, but I can respect it.
Life just loves throwing buckets of shit on you sometimes. We lost our cat, Sebastian, at the start of the year. We since adopted a young lil chap called Pud. Got the news yesterday after a vet visit that he has a heart condition (HCM) and probably has a year at most. Fuck this shit...
So if I'm understanding right, Microsoft cancelled not only Obsidian's Avowed sequel, but a Shadowrun game they were also working on. Mandated work on Fallout instead. Look, I know Fallout has a lot more weight to it but you could do *so* much more with the Shadowrun universe, surely.
Greeting, gamers! We're here to interrupt your feed with some positive news. Work on UZDoom 5.0 is wrapping up. We will begin rolling out Release Candidates really, REALLY soon (sooner than you may think!)... Watch this space, 'cuz 5.0's gonna be one heck of an update!
I always find when I put time into something it always just bites me in the ass and I question why I bothered. Posted that video to an engine dev sub-reddit I've posted in before, and it keeps getting downvoted, without any feedback. Is it the furry in the thumbnail that's upsetting people?
