The tour for THE GALES OF NOVEMBER: The Untold Story of the Edmund Fitzgerald, started on 10/6 in a Cleveland library, with an SRO crowd . It ended for 2025 on 12/15 in the Great Lakes Brewery Company, with an SRO crowd, incl John McCarthy, son of the Fitz's first mate. 1/2

Two unbelievable statistics from The Gales of November: P. 14: "Between 1875 and 1975 alone, the Great Lakes claimed at least 6,000 ships... plus a minimum of 30,000 sailors -- an average of one shipwreck per week, and nearly one casualty a day, every day, for a century." (1/4)

And you should have read the book, because I did. Several, in fact, from the NWS, the NOAA, UM's Naval Architecture school, and the founder of Michigan Tech's Great Lakes Research Center Also, tough guy, sign your name. I do every time. Have a nice day.

Book 18: “The Gales of November” by @johnubacon.bsky.social This book destroyed me. An important story, dutifully told, diligently researched, and handled with care. I weep for the 29, but know their stories were honored in text. Can’t recommend this book enough. We are holding our own. Always.
