Emergency services are underfunded, the folks doing the jobs are over-worked. The entire industry is hanging in there by a thread largely due to the decency of the minimum wage workers who refuse to let you die in their ambulance in spite of their own lack of support from higher.

Real answer: unless you get lucky, most people will not care that you wrote a book. That's something you need to be okay with. I know it was hard work. I know you're proud of it. Many of your loved ones and friends will not read it. Strangers almost definitely won't. That's fine.
