I was that @theirishfor guy on Twitter. "Calling 353" on @thejournal.ie Author of Motherfoclóir & Craic Baby. He/Him. Wink in bio 😉

Very funny to me that the National Theatre Production of Pride's answer to "how do we make our cast look like Welsh men in the 80s?" Is "make then look like British men in the 70s."

My (dance-obsessed) daughter is watching an old episode of Strictly and there’s a guy in the credits called Lincoln Abraham. That’s the name of a fellow who’d go to a gun show and get hit with a theatre.

Hi, I'm being made redundant by the University of Southampton at the end of this month. I'm desperately looking for work. I'll consider all offers but have particular skills in policy, strategy and research. I also have a consultancy service I offer. Please let me know if you hear of anything

While yes, it's not that THIS is what crosses the line - he claims he didn't expect to win and entered in tribute to his father (aka what's the big deal) but entered under the pseudonym "the enemy" suggesting he knew exactly what he was doing and how it would all go.

You can/should read Emily Wilson's latest take on the Odyssey, but I'm logging on to convey my hairdresser's reaction. She was AGHAST that Nolan, with his million $ budget, gave Matt Damon ONLY 6 hair extensions. As a result, his hair did not blow around properly, & that ruined the film for her.

People say we're much worse now than we were 20 years ago but about 20 years ago a woman on Big Brother joked around that she was gonna masturbate with a wine bottle and they edited it to make it look like she really had done it even though she hadn't and it sort of ruined her life 👍

I totally assumed MacGyver had been created in-universe by Groening! Love finding out 'wow these things are actually real in US culture' decades after I've watched the Simpsons episode in question. Found out that McGruff The Crime Dog was real this year!

Amazing how after three decades I can still have these moments of suddenly realising that something *wasn't* created by Matt Groening/some Simpsons writer but already existed, and was either being directly referenced on The Simpsons or, in this case, (very lightly) parodied

Mamdani: universal childcare; faster buses, 5 state-run grocery stores El Sayed: healthcare for all; corporate money out of politics Opposition to both made it about Israel. Even if people voted for multiple reasons, these were two massive referendums on "blind support for Israel" in the US.
