Start with the human story (themes, not Trek) you want to tell 2. Create the characters that will experience it. They don’t have to be human, but have to have humanity.

I know I haven’t been around Bluesky much the past two months, but that’s because I’ve been writing a new novel that ties together America’s Gilded Age, British Imperialism, and Meiji Japan. The first draft is complete. Even if no one ever reads it, it exists and it is mine.

Very grateful that over the last decade we've gotten 6 additional #StarTrek series, and over 260 new episodes that I'll be rewatching and thinking about for the rest of my life.
