Also, no clear rejection of technofascist "tools" in philosophy just for the harm they normalize. For instance, the author says she'll maybe use newer versions of Claude etc. to see if they are "better". How can use of technofascist tools ever be good for philosophy, ever? So I am left puzzled ...

Erst vor wenigen Wochen bin ich nach einem knappen Jahr in Harvard nach Deutschland zurückgekehrt. In den USA habe ich aus gesehen, wie schnell demokratische Normen abgeschafft werden und wie schwer es ist, gegen die Abschaffung solcher Rechte aufzustehen, wenn sie erst einmal weg sind. 3/4

If you can get people to agree trans women have no place in women's sport you are getting them to concede they are not really women and everything else flows from that. They have said this themselves as they campaigned for the ban.

"It's just sports," "It will only affect a few people," & "It'll also be used against cis women" are, IMHO, all equally not-great takes on today's SCOTUS ruling, just different angles. The Supreme Court ruled it's okay to discriminate against a certain class of people. Full stop. That is a horror.

I personally find the “most of you sat and watched” part of it all the most appalling and disillusioning. These past couple of years of rampant transphobia driven by academic philosophers have had a severe negative impact on my relationship with philosophy.

Byrne is proud of what he did and recognises his part in harming millions of trans people. I think his colleagues at MIT should do something. He has, on his way to ruin the lives of many, debased the whole institution of philosophy, MIT, Philosophical Studies, and most of you sat and watched

MIT philosopher Alex Byrne, who is personally cited in this passage, has now done irrevocable material damage to millions of trans people, based on discredited, shoddy work, all to accomplish this aim. That specific article is a sham. I think his colleagues should do something about this

I think the ban on gender marker changes for passports, trans people in the military, and a number of other Trump admin policies survive under the test they just set out under the 14th amendment. I believe protections for trans people under this constitution are effectively dead for a generation.

I think we should *speak to* the topics as they come and go and *offer courses* on them. We often have interesting things to say. We should not *restructure the discipline* or *designate positions* to such topics. (I talked about this 2023 with decision makers in my institution. but alas ...)
