If there’s a reasonable debate to be had over whether you, a politician, are dead or brain dead, I think maybe you should retire regardless? Mitch McConnell is giving the Skeksis Emperor, right before he crumbles to dust.

Even if you support mandatory addiction treatment and believe it works, a) there isn't enough space right now for all the people who *want* treatment, and b) eventually they leave treatment and if they're going straight back into homelessness, what then?

When discussing publicly-funded housing, it’s fair to ask where the money will come from. But we don’t spend enough time talking about the cost of the housing crisis. If the human cost of a homelessness epidemic isn’t persuasive, we have mounds of data there’s a substantial literal cost, too!

I cannot imagine a more disgusting appropriation of Spider-Man on both moral and aesthetic grounds. This is fascist AI-slop, the thirstiest cultural ambulance-chasing they could commit, and I hate them even more for it.

Removing zoning restrictions on housing is the lowest-hanging fruit, in that the only barrier is public sentiment. If govts are pressured to scrap them, that’s that. But then we have to consider what gets built, who can afford it, how they’re treated, and how long they can afford to stay.

Proponents of island airport say the Feds only halted it for “electoral reasons.” Which is probably true. But it’s a tacit admission that so many Torontonians hate the idea its political suicide to support it… not a “fringe” movement. So, which is it? It can’t be both.

This Film often has the piss taken out of it for being a rather sedentary piece about 2 people just talking a lot — BUT — it has one of the most brilliantly prescient monologues in the history of Movies imho. MY DINNER WITH ANDRE (1981) Have a listen.

That one friend in the group who just never had social media? Not like they had it and swore of it and lectured people about the evils of one platform on another platform owned by the same ghouls. The one who saw it 20 years ago, and just said “I’m good?” That’s a cool cat.
