My thoughts about Tony Fauci. He was very demanding to work for because he was involved in so many things, but his staff deeply respected him and relished working with him, even with some challenges. They appreciated his demands for high standards in everything that they did. 1/2

Not every NIH institute director is uniformly loved by their staff. But I’ve never heard criticism of Tony Fauci. (side note: @jeremymberg.bsky.social is another former IC director who seems universally loved by his staff.) Some comments I’ve heard from colleagues today: “He’s an American hero.”
