On my 1st Saturday off in a while, I went to pick up donated flowers for tomorrow's @3wishesprogram.bsky.social wedding (florist not open sunday). It took me > an hour in stop & go traffic, but the beauty of these flowers and human kindness they represent...priceless. Thank you anthonysflowers.com

I told a friend that for a @3wishesprogram.bsky.social wedding this weekend, I've managed to secure a volunteer photographer, free floral arrangments, & a donated two-tiered wedding cake. She tells me these @3wishesprogram.bsky.social stories gives her renewed faith in humanity. I cannot agree more.

It's always so hard to watch parents lose their child. It's not natural and the heartbreak is palpable. These parents wanted an image of angel for their daughter's word cloud, and it can not be more perfect for who she was. @3wishesprogram.bsky.social

A father really wanted to see his daughter get married. But the wedding wasn't for a couple of months, and he was dying and running out of time. @3wishesprogram.bsky.social made it possible to do a small, early, and intimate ceremony in his hospital room so he can see her say "I do".

This holiday weekend, as we celebrate our country and embrace our friends and families, there are others who are losing theirs. I am so proud of our @3wishesprogram.bsky.social healthcare workers who strive to make the worst moments a little bit better.

"Keepsakes" are on here. One of my most precious possessions is the canvas of all our handprints the children's hospice facilitated us to make with Littlest in the weeks before she died. So meaningless to anyone else. So low cost. So wonderful to have.

I'm still on vacation, but just got an email that the @3wishesprogram.bsky.social team at LA General Medical Center just did a heartbreaking wedding for one of their dying patients. Can't help but value every minute with the hubs more. Hold the ones you love tight.

A nurse at Harbor-UCLA told me how the team bought a dying patient a plush guitar so he can "play" and hum along. He was guitarist, but dying and too weak to hold & play a real guitar--his wife was so glad that the @3wishesprogram.bsky.social gave him this one in his final days, said he was so happy

Got a note from a prior @3wishesprogram.bsky.social research assistant: "Both you & 3WP have been deeply formative, shaping the kind of physician I hope to become. As a 1st yr medstudent, I keep returning to the lessons I learned through 3WP: the importance of presence, humanity, & gratitude." 🥰🥰💕💕

One of our volunteer artists who created numerous fingerprint paintings for our @3wishesprogram.bsky.social left for medschool last year. She has now started a similar initiative at the Carle Illinois College of Medicine & sent me one of their 1st paintings. How cool is that?! #kindness is spreading

My breath always catches a bit when I hear that we did @3wishesprogram.bsky.social for a child. This was no exception. Our volunteer artist did a lovely job incorporating the child's footprint and favorite song "The wheels on the bus go round and round"

Our mission is to foster compassion, dignity, kindness, and human connection, among patients, families, and HCW's during a patient's end-of-life period in the hospital. It seems appropriate that we move to where the skies are blue.

One of our volunteer-donors is extraordinarily crafty and has volunteered to create and donate these engraved and personalized keychains for our @3wishesprogram.bsky.social families. So beautiful. And kind.

The patient spent her life working with orangutans, so of course, her family wanted her heartbeat recording to be in them. We could not find any with premade pouches & much to my dismay, our amazing music therapist volunteered to hand sew them! @3wishesprogram.bsky.social

The nurse asked the family to write words that described their dying loved one. For a moment, the family focused on who the patient was as a person, instead of the immense impending loss. The words were used to create this stunning image that was framed for the family. @3wishesprogram.bsky.social

Please give if you can - the amount does not matter. This is a program that is so helpful and may also sometimes provide people with moments of joy, gratitude, reconnection with other family members during end of life stage.

As part of the @3wishesprogram.bsky.social, sometimes our team create these beautiful hand-molds, typically of a husband & wife holding hands the last time. I learned that this one was for a mother who was sadly losing a young son. The though of parents losing their kids is just so heartbreaking.
