I was an illegal immigrant for almost all of my childhood. It wasn’t until I was 16 that my family was granted political asylum from Guatemala, a process that took a decade to achieve. Obtaining a social security # allowed me to enter @ucla at 17 for college and @johnshopkins for grad school.

What a gem to have @traciedelgado.bsky.social in the lab @uwiscrm.bsky.social 20+ years of friendship and it all started as #firstgen college students @uclaalumni.bsky.social

Two Latina PIs (#SeattlePacificUniversity & @uwiscrm.bsky.social) back at the bench for a special collaboration, prepping Illumina libraries for RNA-seq. Dr. Thelma Escobar (@escobarthelma.bsky.social) & I went to college together. Thankful for her help in this project. #ProfessorLife 🧪
