I read that you can use a shop-vac to maintain vacuum when you pull an oil plug to keep it from draining, and thought that sounded like a good idea when hot-swapping a neutral safety switch in my 904 transmission, but it turns out transmission fluid is lighter than oil and that was a foolish idea.

This past weekend I spotted an American Ouzel - also called a Dipper - at Cottonwood Falls in Nelson BC. North America’s only aquatic songbird. This little guy dives into the water and walks on the riverbed and is amazing. Also, he’s got a sassy dance. 10/10.

Finished the first draft of my next book. Well over twice the length of anything else I've written, & also very different. It's not a Territory/Legends & Lattes book, as the non-alliterative title should make clear :) us.macmillan.com/books/978125...

Spokane is really suffering under a combination of terrible wildfires. My house was near the epicenter of the autumn lane fire, and against all odds, survived, but many of my neighbors were not so lucky. It’s bad, folks. Time to help your neighbors!
