Giving Up The Ghost. Just finished this short story by @swankmotron.com about the formation of the Ghost Dogs, a former Kell Hounds Company. Really enjoyable and great look into the logistical nightmare of a new merc company. Discovered thanks to @bigred40tech.bsky.social and their YouTube review.
Gail is an incredible writer and human.
Okay, I am going to tell a little story. It's one I have saved for the last couple years, almost nobody knows about it. But it lives in my heart. I don't know how others will feel about it, maybe something, maybe nothing. It's about the Uncanny X-Men. 1/
He cites users' ability to mute & block folks as a positive, which is good. It's also why right wing chuds thankfully can't get a foothold here - b/c they violate community norms & get nuclear blocked out of normal people's timelines. Bluesky isn't a *liberal* bubble - it's a *decency* bubble.
Bluesky's new CEO Toni Schneider on the platform's reputation for being a liberal bubble: "Yes, we definitely want that to change. It is already changing. It certainly wasn’t designed to attract one specific group of people."

The Ukrainian publisher of board games including Catan and Exploding Kittens is fighting for its existence after a Russian missile strike destroyed its warehouse, wiping out its entire stock of about 200,000 games: boardgamewire.com/index.php/20...
Neat thread! What's some S&S non-fiction that really hit for you, and why?
Engagement with any genre is not limited to just its works, its critique and discussion too - its fundemental to the sword and sorcery revival that New Edge has essays too. When people critique Romantasy from its misogyny/conservatism, or its craft, this isnt an attack but engagement with it.
They did not tell me they would have these at Gen Con. If you want one, run (don’t walk!) to the @catalystgamelabs.bsky.social booth and get one before they’re gone.

Authors and journalists are doing more first-person (hello 2010s blogging) and embracing "mistakes" in writing to prove they're not chatbots. There's even an “anti-Grammarly" app that leaves in typos and signs off "sent from my iPhone" to create more authenticity: www.wired.com/story/more-t...

I sort of had tears in my eyes through most of Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Half from the genuine pathos and half from the ridiculous scenes out of comic books I always hoped I’d get to see on the big screen one day.
You think Thomas Edison invented an air conditioner for the level of hell he found himself in? I bet having to invent something himself rather than steal credit for a thing and patent it was probably his idea of hell.

I own dozens of copies of the Star Wars films, from videodisc and laserdisc to VHS and Blu-ray and all points in between.
