Yes let's do this. I want dead serious preachers starting Sunday morning with "Chat, let us consider the nature of sin "
You guys know how there's no generally accepted second-person plural for English? There's a non-zero chance that in 100 years it'll be "chat"
Free will is an illusion and so is consciousness. Most philosophical thought experiments (Trolley Problem, Chinese Room, etc) are both stupid and deeply counterproductive; if moral reasoning is forced to take account of uncertainty almost all apparent paradoxes collapse.
Do you have any philosophical intuitions that seem extremely obvious to you, but are highly disagreed about? E.g. moral realism vs antirealism, separation of mind and matter, possibility of free will, objects being able to have moral standing, existence per se as a positive good for humans etc
Owning a home is only a money-maker if home values consistently increase (in real terms). But if home values consistently increase over a long period, then home ownership becomes unaffordable.
Controversial take: Owning a home is great, but it's not necessarily better for your finances. People don't actually run the numbers before jumping - there are a lot of hidden costs. Renting can be much cheaper, & loans are structured so you build minimal equity for the first few years.
I mean this is largely because the pike and shot era is one of the most poorly understood time periods for the average person despite taking place over ~250 years that also largely coincided with the continued use of armor and melee weapons
The only reason firearms would look out of place in the type of fantasy I see is because the author, much like OP, doesn't know about their history and can't imagine making fantasy weapons out of them.
in case anyone is wondering how my progeny's villain era is going, she's decided to be bowser for halloween 🥰
weirdly satisfying watching my 3yo daughter who's dressed herself in a fairy dress, light up boots, and a rainbow hoodie loudly sing Be Prepared yes my child, boldly sparkle while plotting the downfall of your enemies 💖
Good evening to everyone except the people who brought a two-year-old to a 7 PM showing of Spider-Man
I read ARC of The Only Way Out is Up by @djangowexler.bsky.social. Fun read! Check it out next month!
Highly recommend pre ordering this - this is a shonen tournament anime in the best possible way.
SECONDLY I have a book coming out next month about a kid who lives in a city-sized scrap heap digging out by entering the robot friend he built in a fighting tournament, and then he confronts entrenched power structures and has to tear down the system. You can pre-order and make me very happy!
I think this is very true, and you can extend it a little -- you should never have an emotional relationship with a *company*. You have relationships with *people*, some of whom might work for the company! But the whole point is a company is that the people can be swapped out.
Gonna say something a little Marxist here, but it's something I believe: the relationship between employee and employer is inherently adversarial. That doesn't mean it must be unpleasant or impolite, but these two entities have different objectives that are at odds with each other.
Oops, I preordered another book. Silly me. *Vibrates with excitement*
Finally time to show off a NEW THING! Coming Sept 29 is THE ONLY WAY OUT IS UP, book one of my tower-climbing pet-robot-fighting system-breaking progression fantasy! It has a cover and everything! djangowexler.com/writing/the-...
Somehow things that would have been a background gag in a Verhoeven movie are now just real
@iucounu.bsky.social I'm looking for a Wodehouse collection or set that isn't a trashy slapped-together formatting nightmare. Is there such a thing that incorporates all of Jeeves etc?
Z refused to leave the house today without putting on four dresses and four pairs of shorts. "When one gets dirty, I'll take it off and have another one! And when THAT gets dirty..."
Adventuring party that claims to be a single human but is actually three goblins in a trenchcoat
Today's the LAST DAY for the Making Demons Bright Kickstarter!! So if you want to buy the ebook on a platform that isn't the Zon, or if you want a signed copy in paperback or hardcover, or if you want any or all of the fabulous art... here's your final call! www.kickstarter.com/projects/cas...
My bank "confirming my personal info" when I log in, including my social security number. Because that might have changed since last time? (Yes, it's really my bank.)
Last night one of my cats did a perfect jump scare, hiding in a box with the open side facing away from me and then shoving the box forward as I came up the steps. Nearly jumped down the stairs. I know they're always trying to kill me but they're really upping their game.
This absolutely. The AI image ad is the modern equivalent of "Comic Sans with MS Clip Art illustrations", carrying the implication that you spent neither money nor effort
I want companies to understand that when I see an AI flier, my brain instantly deletes it. I don't think, "Ooh, I should go to this event!" I rush past it like it's a pile of dog poop. Same for ads with AI models. I assume that if your marketing is cheap garbage, so is your product.
I'm not saying it's been a while since I used my grill, but when I opened it up there was a wasp's nest inside
This is something I have been convinced of on anecdata alone, but it's good to learn that someone has done the stats.
Exactly. www.theguardian.com/news/2026/ma... And also, old research, but US study showed the rich don't even move state to dodge taxes, let alone country www.theguardian.com/inequality/2...
Discussing the difference between making a reality show host president vs an actor who PLAYED the president with @koptev.bsky.social. Poll: What actor who has played POTUS would you vote for for actual POTUS? (Actors playing fictional presidents, rather than specific historical ones.)
Had a dream last night that the world was infested with monsters that would devour you if you paid too much attention to them, so everyone obsessively distracted themselves at all times

Chapter One Hundred Five - The Thirteenth God
It's not going to work. It was never going to work. Adamant is too strong, too fucking fast. Bigger opponents are supposed to be slow, but he whips that red sword around with cat-like grace. (.....
