Free will is an illusion and so is consciousness. Most philosophical thought experiments (Trolley Problem, Chinese Room, etc) are both stupid and deeply counterproductive; if moral reasoning is forced to take account of uncertainty almost all apparent paradoxes collapse.

Do you have any philosophical intuitions that seem extremely obvious to you, but are highly disagreed about? E.g. moral realism vs antirealism, separation of mind and matter, possibility of free will, objects being able to have moral standing, existence per se as a positive good for humans etc

I mean this is largely because the pike and shot era is one of the most poorly understood time periods for the average person despite taking place over ~250 years that also largely coincided with the continued use of armor and melee weapons

The only reason firearms would look out of place in the type of fantasy I see is because the author, much like OP, doesn't know about their history and can't imagine making fantasy weapons out of them.

I think this is very true, and you can extend it a little -- you should never have an emotional relationship with a *company*. You have relationships with *people*, some of whom might work for the company! But the whole point is a company is that the people can be swapped out.

Gonna say something a little Marxist here, but it's something I believe: the relationship between employee and employer is inherently adversarial. That doesn't mean it must be unpleasant or impolite, but these two entities have different objectives that are at odds with each other.

Last night one of my cats did a perfect jump scare, hiding in a box with the open side facing away from me and then shoving the box forward as I came up the steps. Nearly jumped down the stairs. I know they're always trying to kill me but they're really upping their game.
