Sad news everyone. Our beloved friend the computer has now become a hated enemy
part of how I've always functioned as a human is to make the thing I should be doing the natural thing to be doing. even at a micro level, I've always excelled at games where training my instincts was valuable. the attention economy has required adjustments https://alicegg.tech/2026/09/21/attention

apparently I'm on team "don't proofread" though. oops.
most of the people disagreeing with my post are disagreeing with things I didn't say. that's to by expected from the folks on team "don't read"
[guy who has only ever seen Buffy the Vampire Slayer seeing another TV show for the first time] I'm getting a lot of Buffy the Vampire Slayer vibes from this
here we find Eliezer Yudkowsky engaging in the classic 90s and 2000s genre of “insecure straight guy getting really defensive about liking Buffy the Vampire Slayer”
Apparently I'm not the only one, and it's for reasons worth naming
I am very tired of reading AI generated English. But it's worth being precise about why
Just helping with editing here. These bots aren’t sentient. They’re doing what they’re programmed to do. OpenAI, a private company supposedly bound by laws, committed federal crimes.

my little bro is on the Solidus Core Team too now https://solidus.io/blog/new-core-team-members-alistair-norman-martin-meyerhoff
I've worked on a bunch of pieces of software that I can't imagine being built on anything but Ruby, or even Rails. Solidus is one such system. much of what makes Solidus great comes from the platforms its built on.
pro-AI but only if stringently regulated by the Vatican
Hey. If the nyt invited you to be part of a focus group what would you do as a bit?
nothing makes me miss Astro more than working with other systems. They just don't do it as good IMO
Astro is our preferred front-end platform
We’ve tried every combination of front-end platform and back-end integration you can think of over the years, but nothing has been as consistently excellent than Astro for us.

Truly incredible work by Marco & the team here; I’m so excited that we’re finally starting to leap forward to the state of the art on the frontend
Today is a big day for Herb! It's built into Rails 8.2 by default for all HTML+ERB views. My talk at #RailsWorld in Austin today answered three questions: What is Herb? What ships in Rails 8.2? And what does this enable? Herb v0.11 and ReActionView v0.6 released alongside it.
