Happy 25th anniversary to Devil May Cry! It's wild how much of a trendsetter DMC1 was for 3D action games, and somehow it's still up there as one of the greats. A little less accessible for modern players, but once you get into its groove, it's a damn well-oiled machine.
Vibin with Ustad Zia Mohiuddin Dagar. I'm no expert on raaga, but the mellow plucks and slow swings of the sitar make for such a pleasant and easy atmosphere, and a great cure for headaches (ow). Dhrupad singing is great too, but I usually prefer this kinda thing instrumental.
Absolutely loved Big Walk. Didn't expect it to feel like a co-op version of The Witness with its simple puzzle rules, neat twists and rich atmosphere, though there's plenty goofy hijinx in between too. Co-op puzzle games are so satisfying when done right. Probably my GOTY.
Vibin with the Mahavishnu Orchestra. It's a shame the recording quality on their live albums tends to be spotty, because the performances are insane. Billy Cobham was in his prime one of if not THE best drummer in the world, and studio recordings can't do him justice. youtu.be/RUbusEvGhtM

Vibin with Buddy Guy's Sweet Tea. Usually I prefer my Blues the old fashioned way (acoustic by a solo artist), but the sound on this record is so deliciously gritty and grimy that it borders on very heavy, moody rock. The bass tone on "Baby Please Don't Leave Me" is incredible.
As much as I love Tarkus and Karn Evil 9, my favorite ELP track is still Toccata. Emerson's chaotic keyboards are such a perfect fit for Ginastera's playfully evil composition that even over half a century later it still feels heavy, extreme and radical. youtu.be/ZdSeNMlKTcA

Vibin with This Heat's self-titled, an anxious collage of off-kilter rock experiments. Absolutely wild that this was made in the 70's, outside of the recording quality it would totally parse as a modern experimental rock record. Some people call it scary, but I find it exciting.
Swans just put up preorders for their new live album "Newly Sentient Being", consisting of the final performance by this iteration of Swans. Their previous live album, Live Rope, dethroned Swans Are Dead as my favorite live album of all time, so suffice it to say I'm excited.
Also vibin with Vladimir Oidupaa's "Divine Music From a Jail" today, Tuvan throat singing with solo accordion. Very lonely, intimate and personal music, like you're hearing the depths of a person's soul. Regardless of whether he was innocent or not, Oidupaa's music is immense.
Vibin with Melankolia by Stolen Kidneys, Finnish noise rock just the way I like it: dissonant but still riffy, sharp but still meaty. Grim, desperate and crushing. Really underrated, I only found them by sheer happenstance.
