American poet, novelist and environmentalist Wendell Berry has passed away. “Whether we and our politicians know it or not, Nature is party to all our deals and decisions, and she has more votes, a longer memory, and a sterner sense of justice than we do.”

like, by all reports Carney was about to sign on to a deal that was WAY better than the US than it was for Canada and then they were like "oh and also, one more little thing, please tap dance on the third rail of Canadian politics"

Senior discounts? Sure. Peak demand price rises? Annoying but my bad for not planning ahead. Bulk discounts? At least justifiable even if effectively a poverty tax. But targeting price-gouging algorithmically pinned to someone’s degree of desperation is an outrage. Great article from LPE.

Today, Andrew Miller explains how consumer profiling creates new patterns of advantage and disadvantage in the market. But because these practices are often invisible to consumers, those on the losing end can't effectively organize against them.

Christie Belcourt’s paintings glow with a life force of their own and this installation looks spectacular!

I was on the @ualberta.bsky.social campus today for the unveiling of this remarkable art installation by Metis painter Christi Belcourt. It’s called In My Grandmother’s Time, and it blends traditional motifs from Metis beading and embroidery with digital technology. And it’s gorgeous. #ualberta #yeg

Shot from ground level, a round ceiling mural that echoed Metis embroidery. On a black background, we see a wild rose in tjr centre, surrounded by flowers, berries, birds and butterflies.
