Do non Americans have to deal with getting prior authorization for a prescription after being prescribed something. Like, my Dr. who sent the prescription has to write a new letter to my insurance provider like “hey I was serious about this one guys”

Stuff like "the cruelty is the point" ends conversations. "Oh, well if the point is cruelty, I guess that's that." Okay, but you have to admit that we're talking about specific people who are protected by a system that we can change. That's not the final word. There is a next step to take.

Thought eliminating cliches are one of the most dangerous things, because they're the kind of mental shorthand we need to survive, but they become so detrimental if you don't push back against them. Even something that seems true is dangerous when applied too broadly and without interrogation.

I just think these catch phrases tend to self prophesize. If you say the cruelty is the point, it gives the sense that it has to be this way. But if you look at it like a lot of morally bankrupt scumbags have gained power through corrupt means, that's something you can organize against.

People say the cruelty is the point and maybe that is true, but also most of the cruelty we see enacted on a world stage makes lots of money for very specific people. There are clear financial incentives attached to these actions, which IMHO is a much easier thing to fight than "ambient cruelty."
