FOX NEWS: If you're a young person and you're disenchanted, you can't afford a home, you're having trouble with healthcare & you feel failed by the economy, what is the Republican alternative? MIKE JOHNSON: Well, the answer is not to turn everything over to the government, because that never works

Thinking of colleagues who work in the academy depite racism, transphobia, ableism, etc and all of the extra scrutiny put on them---and all of the extra work these scholars do to be perceived as "good at their jobs". >>

This. And I'm already seeing people erase his disability in real time. This isn't only about his Blackness, the NYT made a huge deal of his disability and reading level. This is how racism & ableism work together, they intersect to harm all Black people and target Black disabled people for death.

I worked for New York’s largest medical center at the start of the pandemic. There were morgue trucks on the streets. They set up emergency medical tents in Central Park. Healthcare worker colleagues died. It is horrific that RFK Jr is on national TV lying that ICUs were empty.

I.C.E. has and will continue to abduct Native and Indigenous people. The red handprint on this person’s face is a longtime symbol meant to highlight the systemic issue of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls. There is no bottom to fascism’s cruelty—particularly when racism is involved.

It is genuinely bizarre that we’ve become acclimatized to right wingers throwing a tantrum every time a black person (particularly a black woman) is cast in something, but are also supposed to pretend that this is not racism but related to some other substantive concern.
