On Thu, Oct 1 @11am ET, join us for a virtual science seminar with Arizona State University's @n8upham.bsky.social: No Mammal Is an Island. How do species interact—and how do those interactions shape evolution and disease transmission? Free + open to all. Register: www.eventbrite.com/e/no-mammal-...

This was my exact experience. Silent Hill jokes included 😁 When the guy enters the house and you see the stairs, I turned to my horror-fan friend and said "if a ball bounces down those stairs, I'm gone". Yes, I'm such a wimp with horror films/games. And yet I loved this movie. (Except the ending)

Just emerged alive but possibly infected from "Resident Evil" and holy frijoles Zack Cregger you nailed it you crazy bastard! Go see it in cinema, it is a riot of black comedy and utter terror that one must behold on a big screen!

That "top 100 best shows" list doing the rounds is so awfully biased and subjective that I'm not even going to boost its engagement by linking it. It should've been named "This person's 100 favorite shows made after 1999".

How did modern lizards and snakes come to dominate ecosystems across the globe? For anyone interested in evolution, biodiversity, or vertebrate palaeontology, this review from C4IA's Susan Evans, provides a fresh perspective on a fascinating branch of the tree of life.🔗 doi.org/10.1080/1477...

Happy to share results of the @bat1kgenomes.bsky.social phase 1, providing reference genomes covering 21 bat families. New insights into bat phylogeny, ancestral genome reconstruction, European origin & ancestral echolocation. Great work by a team of 100+ colleagues www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Reference genomes and fossils revise bat family phylogeny and biogeography - Nature

An updated phylogeny of bats is presented, based on new genome assemblies and many ancient fossils and including all known bat families.

This is true at so many levels, and for so many professions. And also, as an introvert, thank the gods for no more surprise people ambushes (I mean, interactions). The death of phone calls is both the best and worst thing brought about by messaging apps and videocalls.

I am going to show my age with this one but damn do I miss having a phone in my office so I could actually get shit done instead of this interminable email and Teams-hopping.

Huge congratulations to Isabelle on publishing a new paper as co-first author with her Master’s student! 🥳 In this study, they explore how habitat use and prey-capture behaviour differ between Pyrenean Brook Newts living in cave streams versus surface streams 🦎💧🕳️ 👀 👉 Check out: shorturl.at/SL6yw
