this is why i always try to frame discussions of the quality of harry potter as something unrelated to and less important than jk rowling's actions. even if it were as good as people said, it's still contributing to real-world harm, and that matters more.

lott@lott24m.bsky.social · 4d agoWhat happens a lot on social media is when someone (Warren Ellis, Neil Gaiman now Ed Brubaker) has allegations thrown at them people tend to leap out the woodwork saying "their work was never good." That helps no one as it's irrelevant. What matters is their actions and what they did.

sorry to resurrect this like a week later but i've slowed down the footage here and like. lines genuinely appear out of nowhere, the footage is just too choppy and too fast to make it clear. most obvious example is at about 40 seconds with the big hair line but it's all over the place when slowed.
