Airlines will be stunned I am defending them, but: the cheapest economy fares are now astronomically cheaper (like, 50%) than in 1986. Pay 1986 equivalent prices today and you're in premium economy (the equivalent of 1986 first class) or business class (a product far beyond anything from 1986).

This code-switching is genuinely excellent advice — I often call it "speaking in katakana", and without it you're a lot less likely to be understood. It's like British people saying "wauh-derrr" instead of pronouncing "water" as they normally would in restaurants in the States.

The UK CAA's annual accessibility report is out. 19 airports are rated "very good". 9 are "good". None are "needs improvement" or "poor". The biggest takeaway from this report is that, whatever the CAA criteria are, they're totally divorced from the reality of travellers needing assistance.

A record 5.9 million passengers used assistance services and facilities at UK airports in 2025, continuing a long-term trend of demand growing faster than overall passenger numbers. Of the 28 airports assessed, 19 airports are ‘Very Good’ and 9 airports are ‘Good.’ No airports are rated ‘Needs Improvement’ or ‘Poor,’ highlighting the progress made since the Civil Aviation Authority’s Accessibility Performance Framework was introduced a decade ago.

This. I’d throw some of the advanced pattern recognition tools in there too, like what LHT is working on for turnarounds, as well as as some of the SLMs for things like live announcement transcription and voice interaction. But the LLM-based gen AI is poisoning that well.

To be clear, I'm a big supporter of the machine learning and data analytics tools, now also called AI, that tend to deliver valuable results for companies. I just wish they'd call them something else so when we have these conversations the differences from LLMs are easier to manage. /fin

Jokes aside, I see people go "I think I'm trans but I'm not gonna address it because of all the difficult stuff, what would I get out of it?" And the answer is true joy. That's what you get out of it. Unless you face yourself, fully and completely, and know who you are, you will never find true joy.

there literally are no good-faith concerns about trans girls participating in high school sports. it is children playing games with their friends, its about confidence and relationship-building. let kids play with their friends.

Good-faith concern on this issue would be going, "hmm, professional sports leagues should probably have some standards in place to ensure trans competitors aren't getting an unfair advantage," googling for 5 minutes, realizing every sports league already has those standards and dropping it.
