One more photo of the unexpected Tawny Owl visit to my garden on Thursday night. Photo taken through my kitchen window on a 1/3 second exposure, so please forgive the blurriness #UKBirding #norfolkbirding #birds
This late Cuckoo has been at Low Newton for the last few days. A fearless juvenile, more concerned with finding caterpillars than the people stood nearby watching it. At one point it landed right at my feet to pluck a caterpillar out of the grass, amazing ! #NEbirding #Lowcarbonbirding
Whooper Swan at Alvecote (Warks side) this evening. @staffsbirdnews.bsky.social please note MSc reports from Alvecote to you are usually in Warwickshire as here #warksbirds
Apart from Fin Whales the undoubted highlight of the #Scilly pelagic today was the incredible sight of at least 180 Grey Phalaropes in groups of up to 35 scattered across the sea. Just stunning 😳 With @aravindramesh19.bsky.social @matthall95.bsky.social @oscardewhurst.bsky.social #ukbirding #birds

Today an extraordinary pelagic around Bishop Rock #Scilly. Staying close inshore the highlight was 2 Fin Whale surface feeding - on a (Herring?) bait ball with 100s Gannets, c100 Common Dolphin and 2 Minke Whale w/ @matthall95.bsky.social @aravindramesh19.bsky.social @oscardewhurst.bsky.social

Lucky to see an Upland Sandpiper & Lapland Bunting down in Cornwall 😍
Today's #BirdOfTheDay thanks to Helen is #BirdSupermodel. Any bird captured looking like it's posing for a magazine cover shoot... so here’s a Tufted Duck. No drama or OTT colours, just exuding restrained glamour. WWT Slimbridge, May 2026. #glosbirds #ukwildlife #birds @helenbennett.bsky.social
Arrived at Davidstow Airfield yesterday morning to a shroud of mist, couldn’t even see the control tower. Eventually the mist lifted & after a careful runway drive we found the 3 stunning Buff-breasted Sandpipers. Has to be my favourite Sandpiper and to see 3 was just brilliant! #ukbirding #cornwall
Kingfisher are just so photogenic! I watched this one at WWT Slimbridge Wetland Centre, Gloucestershire (UK). It caught three small fish and returned to the same perch each time, before deciding that it had had its fill for a while. (24.09.26) #glosbirds #ukwildlife #birds @wwtsightings.bsky.social
Thanks to Atlantic Birding, today’s #BirdOfTheDay theme is: #Black&White; any shot in black and white. So, here are a couple of pictures of Avocet in flight along the River Avon, January 2026. #bristolbirding #ukwildlife #birds @atlanticbirding.bsky.social
Reflective Great White Egret, with a Little Egret looking on. RSPB Ham Wall, Somerset. (21.09.26) #somersetbirding #ukwildlife #birds
Today’s #BirdOfTheDay theme is: #Raptors; any bird of prey. A super choice from Atlantic Birding - creating a good reason to post two more pictures of a Kestrel I saw a couple of weeks ago at Severn Beach! 🙂 #avonbirding #ukwildlife #birds @atlanticbirding.bsky.social
Another #PatchBirding Owl session this evening on rural #Godinton Park. Barn Owl & Little Owl out hunting in the fields and a calling Tawny Owl once again from the copses. Kingfisher at #SingletonLake, Green Sandpiper near Great Chart, Kestrel, Grey Heron, Treecreeper & Chiffchaffs.
A lovely Evening #patchbirding The Mersey was like a mill pond so flat and calm with a beautiful sky above Usual waders on shore ..curlew,redshank,oystercatchers,a few little and a gw egret. 2 stonechat, 2 raven, kestrel, buzzard and lovely to see one of the barn owls out early .
The wind ran through Girdle Ness today and birds were seeking respite. A Whimbrel hunkered with Curlews on the rocks. A Ruff, my first of the year, and a Bar-tailed Godwit found the golf course meadow facsimile appealing. #Birds #BirdingScotland #PatchBirding #UKWildlife
