I'm a little late, but I really enjoyed this year's Freiburg edition of @smashingconf.com. A big thank you to everyone involved; the team and organization were fantastic, and I feel really thankful for having gotten to meet so many amazing humans 😍 Can't wait for next year!

Fighting the post @smashingconf.com blues. Had such a nice time, spoke with so many like minded people and enjoyed that unadulterated positivity that has become quite rare. Even got a little star struck sharing a table with people who's tools I use and books I read. 😊 See you next year.

“It’s not a failure when someone doesn’t take your advice”. Lots to reflect from Joe’s talk. I’ve explored the “talking about risk” from the dev perspective but talking about fear and frustration is more complicated as that’s also part of company culture. #SmashingConf

Oh look 👀 it’s an oscilloscope that actually fits in a suitcase. I wonder what airport security is going to say when they see this thing going through the scanners. I just don’t have an room for clean clothes left in my luggage. But that is a price I am willing to let you pay. Smell you later! 👋🏻

Since accessibility issues start in the design phase, catching them early is cheaper than fixing them in code. I'm running a free 1 hour accessibility webinar this Tuesday Sept 1, 2026 · 19:00. It covers how to check your mockups, documentation examples and you will get plenty of resources to help.

Spotting Accessibility Issues Early — Online Workshops

Accessibility is not only a developer problem, it's team work! And many issues can already be spotted, prevented, and documented during the design phase. In this 1-hour webinar, Stephanie Walter will show designers and open-minded curious developers how to review mockups for common accessibility issues.
