Been thinking on the use of GenAi for mood boards. Ethics and legal risks aside, I truly believe using GenAi as references deprives one of many pivotal things. Here’s a blurb on what I mean:

Some thoughts:
When using GenAi as a mood board you don't get sources. This means you deprive yourself from knowledge.
You generated a location? You deprived yourself of knowing more about the interesting parts of the world and why things came to be.
Generate an armor or costume? You deprived yourself on real world techniques, function, form and history.
You generated art inspirations? You deprive yourself of learning about artists from history or lock out living ones from potentially being hired.
Ethical issues of using GenAi models aside, one ends up making visuals mood boards devoid of reality and history. With it one deprives themselves from learning about our world and who is living in it, inadvertently making your work weaker, because of how detached it is from our shared human reality and history.

Hey #sanfrancisco and friends who use tik tok. If you see a video of a couple (man with dark curly hair, and woman with black short hair, tall, white) in San Francisco, crossing Chez Maman in Hayes Valley, they just pepper sprayed the entire restaurant, my mom, me and our foster dog. If you see

Epic’s law team when they remember there are over 110 lawsuits against GenAi models in the US—lawsuits for copyright infringement amongst other violations— and the Unreal team is out there advertising LLMs as a central feature to one of their biggest products.

'The road to Unreal Engine 6' - www.unrealengine.com/news/the-roa... "for UE6, we see LLMs, generative AI models, and tools like Claude and Codex playing a central role in helping you build content faster while maintaining the creative control you need."

So sick and tired of San Francisco consistently blocking off tax paying public spaces for bs ai companies. Yerba Buena park closed yet again. San Franciscans cant even enjoy the little nature we have downtown without it consistently having it be closed off by tech companies 😭 @sfgov.sf.gov

A whole tax payer funded park park blocked off by tech companies

If you’re if Sacramento or nearby, please consider joining a group of voice actors, performers, artists and writers to demand transparency from GenAi companies with AB-412! Rsvp for more info and please if you can go! Your presence can make all the difference!

Our Voices are NOT their trade secret. Join NAVA in person THIS MONDAY 3pm at the Capitol in Sacramento to show your support for AB412, the AI Transparency Act. We need your voices in that room to show how much the voice over community cares.

1/ This company’s models were trained on web scraped datasets (like LAION) and their founders are ex-Stability AI employees who engage in the same thieving practices that led artists like myself to sue Stability. GenAi companies NEED big names to sanitize their exploitation and crippling PR.

Martin Scorsese is an advisor to Black Forest
Labs.
He's spent six decades shaping how the world sees stories. Now he's helping us shape visual intelligence with human taste and craft at the center.
We sat down with him for a working storyboarding session using FLUX.

"Faster, more efficient" = cutting artists and animators "3rd party video models w/ a proprietary model portfolio" = we won't tell you what data we trained off of (likely stolen) A bill in Cali would force AI transparency, but it needs YOUR help! Please sign this petition tinyurl.com/4uxbp963 1/

Three AI animated series are heading to Prime Video streaming via Amazon MGM/AWS-backed GenAI Creators' Fund: 'Cupcake & Friends;' 'Love, Diana Music Hunters;' and 'Punky Duck' from Jorge Gutierrez.

CA’s transparency bill AB-412 (which forces GenAi companies to disclose if their datasets are using YOUR copyrighted works) is in a slow march to become a bill. Also due to massive tech opposition, they make us all work for it every step of the way. Don’t let em win, sign the petition below asap!👇

Every single day without transparency, the value of copyright loses ground and the harms inflicted to creative industries grow. Please add your signature to this petition TODAY. actionnetwork.org/petitions/le...

My girl cat, my best friend, my favorite being for over 17 years—who was so healthy just a month ago— was diagnosed with terminal cancer. While I’m so lucky I had 17 years of her, I’m still so devastated. I wish I could have even one more year. Here’s a reminder to love them every step of the way.
