If a country got its second-best result ever in, say, Eurovision, the fandom would be celebrating. Why is it all-or-nothing in football? Idk third place seems perfectly decent to me but maybe I don't get it.

Mahmood argues that controlling our borders is good for race relations, because uncontrolled immigration is feeding far right rhetoric and tensions. Expect to hear a lot more of that.
In Polish, when someone writes a lot of words of vague, boring, meaningless ramble, we call it "lanie wody" - "pouring water". Seems particularly on the nose these days.
