Engaging with football content has led me to the section of the internet that's still defending and idolising Mason Greenwood and now I feel a bit sick.

I love that AI is already eroding the social fabric, contributing to rising unemployment and is a credible threat to humanity's survival but it still can't correctly copy data from a webpage into a spreadsheet.
Spain is amazing at teamwork but they could really do with a Haaland-style ruthless goal-scoring machine
Between the awful Tom Cruise speech and the halftime show... The US doesn't get football. What is this nonsense.
If a country got its second-best result ever in, say, Eurovision, the fandom would be celebrating. Why is it all-or-nothing in football? Idk third place seems perfectly decent to me but maybe I don't get it.
“Andy has successfully persuaded Shabana to take the brief she has no background in, with a promise that she can continue to do the thing that helped sink the popularity of the outgoing government” Not exactly the most inspired start here
This place is full of people with PhDs having insightful debates about some report or other, but the other place is currently watching a dog who is also a train and you guys are missing out.
This is a far right argument which blames racial hatred on immigrants instead of racists.
This is first time I’ve heard the govt making the Labour argument for controlling immigration. Mahmood argues that controlling our borders is good for race relations, because uncontrolled immigration is feeding far right rhetoric and tensions. Expect to hear a lot more of that.
In Polish, when someone writes a lot of words of vague, boring, meaningless ramble, we call it "lanie wody" - "pouring water". Seems particularly on the nose these days.

Might as well post here too: I'm urgently looking for a London sublet for June. Open to anything between 1-5 weeks. Can also look after plants, pets etc. Please let me know if anyone has a room going.
Trainline be like: Here's a new tool to help you with things you never needed help with! By the way, bear in mind that it might talk absolute nonsense and also scam you.
Who Remembers the Armenians? I remember them and I ride the nightmare bus with them each night and my coffee, this morning I'm drinking it with them You, murderer - Who remembers you? ― Najwan Darwish, Nothing More to Lose
I just saw a blue tick (you can guess from which party) refer to the local elections as "Britain's midterms". I'm generally very against depriving people of their citizenship but maybe there are some exceptions...
What an upside down world when one of the reasons that Orban is rejected is because of foreign interference not just from Russia, but also from US of A. Europe says "thanks, absolutely not" to both. 🍾🏆
Bye bye Viktor, hope the door hits you on the way out and that you step in shit on your way home.
Although I don't have high hopes for Péter Magyar, it's still pretty beautiful to see the fall of the Orbán regime. I can think of a few friends of his who now need to follow him to the bin 🚮 No kings/tyrants - not in Europe, not in the US, not anywhere.
BIG day today in Hungary, but at least in the short run, the choice is between authoritarianism and democracy, with liberal democracy at the backburner.
Even if Victor Orbán is ousted on Sunday, Hungary’s return to liberal democracy is not guaranteed | Gabriela Greilinger and Cas Mudde
Challenger Péter Magyar is no progressive – and after 16 years of creeping authoritarianism, the PM has embedded Fidesz in the Hungarian state, say Gabriela Greilinger and Cas Mudde of the University ...

Being active in a political party is so undignified. Why was I telling my Chilean friend in a bar in Berlin at 3am about the council by-election in Cliftonville?

As Mark Steel said, "Yes, gay Jews and female plumbers are well known to be supported by sectarian groups like al Qaeda and the Taliban. Just go to Afghanistan and you can't move for female plumbers."
People are still going on about the Urdu videos... In 2016, I was getting anti-Muslim ads from Britain First in Polish.
But fundamentally, this shows why first past the post isn’t fit for purpose. If the government doesn’t introduce proportional voting, a far right party could win the next general election outright on a minority of the vote.
I'm hearing that the Greens won because of woke Islamists. Jihadists for legalising MDMA. ISIS non-binary caucus.
