This series by @johnmunro.bsky.social is officially a must read: "Snake Pass might be located in the countryside, but the mobility politics of commons and enclosure playing out there also speak to municipal, national, and transnational scales in an urbanizing world."

Why are car-centric transport systems so difficult to undo? Because automobiles represent the dominance of private property over public space. In this @urbancyclinginstitute.org essay, I look to history to uncover how we got here. #StealingCars

East Asian Studies is being gutted at Sheffield - all staff at risk with 8.6 FTE proposed to go (a third of us). Biggest cuts in Chinese and Japanese Studies. We’ll be taking a few days to process. Solidarity to Materials and Chemistry colleagues who are also dealing with similarly bad news.

Labour-run Coventry City Council has just handed £750,000 to Palantir - a company that profits from hunting immigrants for ICE and produces "kill lists" for the Israeli military. A company lobbied for by Mandelson himself. Shame on them. Last Friday we came together to fight back. #DropPalantir

Fernwood has been profiled in a few media pieces that attempt to discredit the public funding of arts and culture. These folks think it’s a waste for public money to be spent on a publisher that is po...
