I'd argue the culture, arts, and academic sectors are holding up almost everything of financial value to the AI industry in a way we've rarely seen in other booming markets historically, yet almost none of that value is being funneled back. Something's gotta give.

Dozens of gas-burning power plants are being built across the country, solely to power data centers. These plants could emit as much planet-warming pollution as half of all passenger vehicles in the entire country in a single YEAR. We need a data center moratorium — now.
kids should know how to type, yes. but i am telling you as a teacher, this is BROADLY not the reason kids are using ChatGPT. They use it for the same reason adults do: because it's a shortcut and they don't see the value of the work they are being asked to do or the skill underlying it.

To be clear, I'm sorry for everyone who travelled and didn't get to see it, but the fact that safety issues with pyrotechnics caused the Royal #Shakespeare Company #MadKing show to be delayed is far too thematically apt for a play about King Aerys II Targaryen. ...also it sounds like a great show.
if you're a presenter it takes 15 minutes to look up names you're not sure how to pronounce. A great way is to look up interviews or videos- people often introduce themselves in videos, and research is a miniscule effort you can do to honor their work and achievements
