The way I usually think about it is that in 16 yrs (13 in scrubs) I've never been called a nurse whereas every woman I've asked has been. I appreciate as senior, I'm actually quite junior but I think it's a good enough sample size. Only option I've got:

Most US hospitals now affix a large tag to the bottom of our hospital badges that says “Physician” or “Doctor.” And yet, my female physician colleagues are called “nurse” all the time. Sorry to hear Oz is the same.
