Charlie Stross@cstross.bsky.social · 5d agoAll human institutions succumb to rolling amnesia as their leadership ages out and dies: what was known in year 0 is conventional wisdom in year 20, questioned in year 30, and forgotten or discounted by year 50. Also, our ability to maintain built infrastructure in the longer-than-that term sucks.
If AI is going to kill us it seems like this would be an easy way to start.

Constantine@ajaxsinger.bsky.social · 6d agoOkay, so this isn't just dumb, it's scary scary bad bad. We came within a hair's breadth of seizing a Chinese ship in international waters which could have easily spiraled into a war.

Within the context of a single post we wouldn't consider it a direct threat or targeting a protected category. Ie send trans folks to concentration camps.

That's a hard-coded API token that Flock cameras use to identify themselves and get OAuth credentials, which can then be used to talk to Flock's production servers. Like, anyone on the internet can probably do this right now.
This Flock camera is running obsolete, end-of-life software. - It's on Android 8.1, released in 2017, support ended in 2021 - It's on Android patch level 2018-06-5 - It's running Linux 3.18, released in 2017 This shit is like 8 or 9 years old, and full of vulnerabilities.
