I know representation isn't everything, but there is a direct correlation between the fact that a supermajority of lawyers in this country are cishet white men and how quickly and easily so many legal institutions and Biglaw firms bent the knee to Trump, and you'll never convince me otherwise.

Unironically the thing I love about this point, is that it's a great basis to start talking to y'all about the fact that most of the people in jail in the US are just as innocent as Khalil. Many are Black folk that have been arrested with *absolutely no basis*, but wait *over a year* to see a judge.
The thing about the Khalil case is that it's very very good that he's free now but you can't have it take three months between "the government kidnaps you off the street for no basis reason whatsoever" and "a judge makes them let you go." You just can't.
This framing is beneath contempt. The Christian right and MAGA launched an unprecedented assault on the civil rights of a tiny minority and successfully weaponized the pseudoliberal establishment - led by the NYT - to provide it with a medical controversy pretext that doesn’t actually exist.
The NYT was cited in the Supreme Court ruling used to strip trans people of healthcare. This is EXACTLY WHY the “just asking questions” crowd of centrist edgelord journalists are dangerous. They launder transphobia through faux neutral “debate” and act like it’s intellectual curiosity

I think sarcasm around Elon’s Nazism should stop now. Jokes about the autism bullshit, any sort of validation of his sidestepping of the question, all of it should be replaced by a very cold, sober, direct confrontation with the richest man on Earth and advisor to the president being a Nazi.
Stressed on maternity leave about publish or perish despite being in a teaching track… because what is job security. That being said, publishing roundtables is more sustainable - and honestly better -(collaborative, accessible, etc.) and I’m proud of this work: www.jhuptheatre.org/theatre-jour...

Thread. And I mean it when I say I hope Alito and friends burn in hell.
Skrmetti oral arguments live thread. First question is from Justice Thomas asks why it's not an age based classification rather than sex based classification.
I’m sorry, I didn’t catch that. What was the nature of the crime you were referring to, again?
