🚨New release: NGFF specification 0.6 🚨 Last week, we formally released the latest version of the NGFF specification: 0️⃣.6️⃣( ngff.openmicroscopy.org/specificatio...) Let's take a small tour through the things possible with #ome-zarr 0.6 now that this is out! 👇

Research software is costly and time-consuming to produce because it requires focused time from developers who have invested years learning to master their craft, just like art. There is nothing to celebrate about relinquishing intellectual expertise and mastery in favor of fast and cheap.

This article seems to celebrate the shift from poor support for #software #engineers in research to pretending they aren't needed at all. Did we spend 2 decades consolidating fragmented software ecosystems into platforms only to see them dissolve through "vibe coding"? www.nature.com/articles/s41...

A significant moment at #OME2026: Thanking Prof. Jason Swedlow, the founder of OME, who shaped this remarkable community work since the beginning of the millenium. His work & leadership were honored - even with a nod to his famous blue shirts by OME's Interim Board, nominated by Jason in Oct '25.
