The 2-3 tips are pretty much "cool shadow, warm light," "dont repeat shapes, or stagger things to keep it visually interesting," and "make a vibrant black by mixing a dark red, green, and blue." I personally think anatomy and technical skills improve over time, but concepts help artists level up.

My mom has been taking art lessons, and it's awoken the "I used to teach a mid level course at art school" brain. Even though in reality it was expressing the same 2-3 tips on repeat and otherwise encouraging the student to lean into their strengths, I'm SO excited to share those 2-3 tips!

It'll never not be weird when I see someone post they are struggling at art school, so I dig through their media posts to try and get an idea of their current skill level and see... nothing. They don't post any art, ever. It happens fairly regularly. Why are you spending gobs of money?!?

I find myself increasingly apprehensive to post opinions online. Not because I don't stand by my opinion, but that The Bad Feels from being potentially misunderstood hits my psyche like a train, and I'd be happy to have less of The Bad Feels.

Nugget using the Jiji pillow💕 He went to the vet today due to swelling near the base of his tail. It's thankfully not an abscess, but that doesn't explain why the swelling hasnt gone down. So he's on a course of antibiotics and anti inflammatory. He feels fine and doesn't care #cats

I don't think we can call him "fat Jiji" anymore. He's back to a healthy weight for his age! (Nearly 10) Last year Jiji got about 2 pounds overweight. A combo of increased play and high quality food, and decreased kibble snacks, and he's back to where he should be! #cats

There's one type of product photography edit that's ALWAYS ethical. It's removing cat hair and lint fuzzies that accidentally got into the pics.

Just bought a new pride flag for the house. The old one was falling apart, and I am compelled to replace it not just because I want to, but in the name of neighbor who introduced herself as a lesbian dragon boat rider who told me seeing the flag brightened her morning walk each day.

I still have people dressed in Harry Potter cosplay show up to my booth, and at this point I don't think any of them are allowed to feign ignorance. Even if they are so incredibly offline, they would need to have literally ZERO friends willing to call them out, which also is a bit of a dog whistle.

I found my notes from when I moved to Portland around 2014/2015 and was apartment hunting. All of my "way too expensive" 2 bedroom apartments were in the 1200-1400 range. Most of the units I visited were in the 850-1095 range. The 2 bedroom unit I rented was $840/mo. RIP 😭

My cats were banned from a specific cluttered room until I was able to clean it. The first thing they did when I let them in was to jump on all the shelves and knock things to the floor -_-

Heihei wants to bully Nugget. We've started calling him "the scary white man." When we talk to Nugget and it's always funny. "Oh Nug, is that scary white man following you again? Are you being bullied by the big white man?" I'm hoping Heihei gets over it, but its a LOT of work right now. #cats
