"It is difficult to produce a television documentary that is both incisive and probing when every twelve minutes one is interrupted by twelve dancing rabbits singing about toilet paper." ~Rod Serling
ngl I’ve been seeing a lot of this Facebook-level of tribalistic vapidity and it’s seriously pushing me away from bluesky. what am I missing? what does this inanity add to the political conversation?
No notes…
the world needs more guinea pig cartographers
I'm glad Wemby is alive at a time when these people can celebrate him instead of fearing him as some sort of demonic wendingo monster.
Air travel hassles are like dreams: the most interesting in the world when happening to you, the most boring thing imaginable in other peoples’ stories.

Ah yes. The met gala: where farmers, spinners and weavers are centered
This is not so with clothing. Few people consider the farmers, spinners, weavers, dyers, designers, pattern makers, sewers, embroiderers, finishers, and pressers that collaborate to produce something fantastical. I doubt there's much I can say on social media that will change people's biases.
High fashion is sophisticated. Something you stinky poor just can’t understand.
All of those events involve spectacles, celebrities, and obscene amounts of money. Notably, the Met Gala is the only one that's a charity for a public institution. What upsets people isn't the actual money or celebrities, but the notion of fashion. The more unusual the outfits, the more outrage.
But… the Super Bowl does get this same criticism. Skim these qts. I like derek and get what’s he’s trying to do, but the thread reads as holding water for the billionaire class.
But such outfits offend people — really offend people — because people don't think of clothes as anything more than consumables. It's notable to me that the Met Gala gets compared to the Hunger Games, whereas such criticism is rarely levied at the Oscar's red carpet or the Super Bowl halftime show.
The Sabres have won and the city of Boston is sad. I am pleased.
Boston fans paying $600+ to watch their team lose is extremely satisfying to watch
Refs miss half a dozen calls seemingly to make up for a correct no-goal and Boston wins.
Not getting emotional with 716 bringing the Canadian anthem home after technical difficulties 🇺🇸🤝🇨🇦
Today, two (two!) men ran sub two-hour marathons for the first time in human history and the news is nowhere to be found on the ESPN or Sports Illustrated home pages. One of the greatest feats in sports history and it’s less important than the final round of the NFL Draft.
same aura as Gustave Doré’s Christ Leaving the Court
Kinda unreal how sedated every playoff team’s home crowd seems compared to the Sabres.
We see Coopers game plan. They can’t match the Habs. So they are gonna play dirty. Game on.
Atmosphere is incredible in Buffalo. Electric. Contrast couldn’t be greater with sleepy Tampa Bay.
Only in Florida would they be dumb enough to start a USA chant. 3/4ths of the team were born outside of 🇺🇸 … #GoHabsGo
