The latest release of Positron leverages `uv` to make getting started with Python as easy as a single click 👾 I wrote up a lil blog post on the places Positron elevates `uv` to help with Python workflows. You can read it here: opensource.posit.co/blog/2026-07...

Latest version of Positron can open xlsx files in the data viewer(!) and it has a dropdown menu now for previewing different formats of #QuartoPub documents And—most importantly, but also from a few weeks ago, so less new—the plots panel can pick up dimensions from chunk options!!!! #rstats
Every item in my "Things I still wish Positron could do" section here is now doable 🎉

Read this incredibly useful post by Community Engineer Steffi LaZerte if you write prose in Quarto or R Markdown! I begged her to write it so I could duplicate her spellcheck, formatting and grammar linting config. (Also, note that we reset the @ropensci.org account, give it a re-follow!) #RStats

Posit has joined the Jupyter Foundation! 🎉 @jupyter.org has powered interactive computing across our tools for years, from Notebooks to the kernels behind Positron. Now we're helping fund the infrastructure and community that keep it thriving. Read the blog: opensource.posit.co/blog/2026-06...
Announcing Toolbars for Shiny! Managing limited screen real estate for filters, controls, or AI components is a challenge. Toolbars addresses this by with a compact, low-profile UI container for headers, footers, and text inputs. See #RStats & #Python examples: opensource.posit.co/blog/2026-05...

When we started working on Positron, we began by asking "what did we always want to do in RStudio, but couldn't"? Years of community upvotes on RStudio's issue tracker helped us form that wishlist. Here's how some big ideas made their way to Positron: opensource.posit.co/blog/2026-06...
RStudio's Top Feature Requests ... In Positron
Many of the most upvoted RStudio feature requests are already implemented in Positron, and we explore ten of them.

The user interface in the new Posit Assistant is one of the best and most intuitive I've seen for using AI tools for editing code. This will be excellent for students and researchers already familiar with RStudio. This is a brilliant harness and user experience for using AI for data science 🎉
