Tomorrow I begin a long hike that'll last into August, so that's a wrap on Artfight for me! Really happy with this year though—my quality especially has improved massively. I wish I'd kept my momentum from the start of the month and done a few more attacks, but I still beat my record! ^_^

The response to that vampire piece has been so nice to see, giving me a huge ego boost kehehe!~ Like damn I really can draw something hot as hell when I want to, I should do it more often…

SADKJKSDHGADSHJGADS I FUCKING WOOOOOOOOOOOOON THIS WAS MY MOONSHOT I DIDN'T THINK IT'D ACTUALLY HAPPEN BUT HOLY SHIT!! FFVII RAID TIER IN XIV!! I'M LOSING MY MIIIIIIIIND!!!!!

I thought Midnight would be an expansion taking place in an iconic city where the cosmic threat's presence was ever-felt and oppressive. Kind of like how Legion was, the stakes would feel so high. Having that narrative effectively resolved in 4 weeks killed a *ton* of my investment.

Unfortunately I think this is another thing we can blame SL for. They tried to have every patch stay on theme, and people 100% did get "Mawsworn and devourer fatigue," which could be why DF and the saga have doubled down on thematically unique to the point of being disjointed patches.

Quite frankly I think “bad guy fatigue” should be ignored entirely no matter how true it is. Did people watching Star Wars for the first time go “ugh I have storm trooper fatigue” or something? An expansion is like One video game. You can’t focus on the main bad guy and their minions for ONE game?!

Nothing wrong with frictionless, comforting escapism media where none of the bad stuff exists, if that's your jam or your need, but we all collectively really really REALLY have to get rid of the idea that media that deals with immoral subjects leave an immoral taint on all who engage with it.
