RI Representative, District 71 Believer in truth, science and human dignity.

Hello! I’m the reporter who has been tracking citizens detained by immigration agents. And last night, I noticed something: A lot of them were at the State of the Union, including a number of whom I’ve written about. Their stories should be known:

Neighbor: “Sure they wear ICE hats to the gym, but they’re the nicest people and would do anything for anyone” Me: “except for immigrants seeking a better life” Why do people feel the need to normalize abhorrent behavior?

Former US Homeland Security official warns of impact of Trump deploying federal agents on neighborhood streets in DC: "Taking FBI agents off of organized crime cases, terrorism & other kinds of cases to do street patrols? That's not the best use of a highly trained FBI agent"

Congratulations to Sidney Tynan, the queen of Little Compton’s 350th celebration! The them of this celebration is unity and the community really demonstrated that connection in today’s opening ceremony. Happy 350th Little Compton!

Earlier today, @mcgaw4ri.bsky.social hosted a group of students from Wilbur & McMahon Elementary School at the State House. The students participated in a mock legislative session, led by Rep. McGaw, where they debated and voted on different bills, and learned about how laws are made.

You don’t have to compost grandma, but if that’s what grandma wants it seems reasonable that it should be an option.

@rihouseofreps.bsky.social passes human composting bill, shifting focus to @risenate.bsky.social. “I do not intend to compost grandma,” one opponent said of the bill, which @mcgaw4ri.bsky.social has been broadened to include alkaline hydrolysis, or water cremation www.bostonglobe.com/2025/05/30/m...

My constituent,Jennifer McDowell, and others who testify in support of this bill and those that email me with their personal stories are asking to die with dignity when their time comes. Is compassion for their plight too much to ask?

From @fitzprov.bsky.social: US Representative Seth Magaziner’s mother-in-law, Jennifer McDowell, testified this week in favor of state legislation that would allow a terminally ill patient to end their life using medications prescribed by a doctor. www.bostonglobe.com/2025/05/23/m...
