This Labor Day, show your appreciation for the labor movement by talking to your coworkers about unionizing, shopping at unionized stores, committing to never cross a picket line, and voting in November for candidates who support workers' rights to organize for a better future!

If Trump had gone to the scene to "help" after 9/11 he would have stayed just long enough to make sure photographers got their pictures. That no such pictures exist tells us the veracity of that story he tells every year.

Friday morning, I was gardening when I checked my phone. A request had gone out for help. For 25+ hours, ICE had been laying siege to a quiet neighborhood in Frederick, MD. Community members were afraid, some didn’t want to leave their homes. ICE vehicles seemed to be lurking on every corner.

ICE vehicle - black Nissan Maxima with plate cover - posted up in a spot that also serves as an elementary school bus stop. Another ICE vehicle, black Dodge Durango, lurking around the community. Two more ICE vehicles - black Dodge Durango and a white SUV, unclear on make, model - on a quiet residential street, being quietly creepy. Note that the white SUV has its plate covered. Yet another ICE vehicle. Black Nissan Pathfinder. They were all over the neighborhood.

6 years ago today, we lost a giant of our history.   I will never forget traveling with John Lewis on three civil rights pilgrimages to Alabama & marching over the Edmund Pettus Bridge where, in 1965, he was beaten bloody while marching for the right to vote.   [1/2]

Lorenzo Salgado Araujo was a father and business owner who lived in the US for over 30 years. On Tuesday, an ICE agent shot and killed him on his way to work. Join us Sunday to honor his life—and to recommit to dismantling an immigration enforcement system that sees human lives as expendable.

I do not think there is sufficient appreciation for how catastrophic yesterday’s decision in Slaughter is for this country. As Justice Sotomayor said in her dissent and she intoned from the bench yesterday, “today the majority reshapes our Govt.”
