Love this 😍 Reducing consumption is a great step in reducing carbon emissions. And demonstrating how to do it is a great step in normalising the behaviour. Which encourages more to do the same. Get more from your shoes 👟 Don’t believe the 500 mile myth.
Sadly I think it’s finally time to retire my Karhu Mestari @thegreenrunners.bsky.social After 1550 km (963 miles), one Vibram resole and the tiniest bit of stitching on one toe, the cushioning has finally gone. But they’re not for landfill yet, plenty of walking miles left!

As @katharinehayhoe.com says “talking catalyzes action”, which is why #HowWeSpeakOut is one of our pillars. Great article on the importance of talking about climate change.
Want to do something about climate change? Talk about it. Atmospheric scientist Katharine Hayhoe explains why conversation on the topic is so important and how to take this step toward climate action. www.hcn.org/issues/58-8/...

Badvertising on the money once again 💥 Sportswashing by Big Oil, as seen in the FiFA World Cup, is one way in which they try to paint their industry in better light. If you spot sportswashing at a running event then let us know. We need to run sportswashing out of town. #HowWeSpeakOut
🚨 Big Oil made $93 BILLION in profit in three months. As war pushed oil prices up and fossil-fuelled heatwaves, fires and drought devastated communities, oil giants cashed in. 🫰 And they’re still allowed to advertise like they’re part of the solution. 🧵 1/7

This resonated with me “These are not really wildfires, they are often started with human barbecues, cigarette butts or litter, but the key thing is climate change.” I find the use of the term “wildfire” grating in the context of the infernos we’ve witnessed in the UK this year.
‘These are human fires, not wildfires’: Dunwich reflects on the devastation: As residents, nature wardens and experts consider the damage to the heathland and how to restore it, the climate crisis is foremost in their minds A local community pulling together, emergency services saving hom...

Climate denial is getting louder. Reality is getting harder to ignore. When parks are brown, rivers are shrinking and firefighters are battling blazes across the globe, governments must accelerate climate action, not slow it down.
This burning summer is the proof: the voices of climate denial aren’t just delusional, they’re deadly | Sadiq Khan
Look at our blazing forests and parched cities. Green policies aren’t a ‘luxury’, and we can’t burn more oil and gas. People need the truth, says London mayor Sadiq Khan

Rewilding is the best defence against wildfires
Rewilding is not the cause of Britain's worsening upland wildfires. Increasingly, it looks like one of the most promising solutions.
