Sadly I think it’s finally time to retire my Karhu Mestari @thegreenrunners.bsky.social After 1550 km (963 miles), one Vibram resole and the tiniest bit of stitching on one toe, the cushioning has finally gone. But they’re not for landfill yet, plenty of walking miles left!

Exit the station and head past the Yellow House on the western side of Lower Road to reach the entrance.
🚇 London Underground (Jubilee line) The nearest tube station is Canada Water, approximately a 10-minute walk away.

🚌 Bus Southwark Park is well-served by several local bus routes.

Routes 1, 47, 188, 199, 225, 381, and P12 all stop within a short distance of the park entrances.
🚴‍♂️ TfL Cycle Hire There are several docking stations nearby for those arriving by bike.

Closest locations: Rotherhithe Roundabout, Clements Road, and Canada Water.

Our biggest London local meet up turn out yet! 7 Green Runners runners ran Greenwich Peninsula parkrun at their own pace before wandering along the river to have coffee & chat. Over refreshments they shared stories of adventures on the trails & training plans for approaching events.

🚨 Big Oil made $93 BILLION in profit in three months. As war pushed oil prices up and fossil-fuelled heatwaves, fires and drought devastated communities, oil giants cashed in. 🫰 And they’re still allowed to advertise like they’re part of the solution. 🧵 1/7

This resonated with me “These are not really wildfires, they are often started with human barbecues, cigarette butts or litter, but the key thing is climate change.” I find the use of the term “wildfire” grating in the context of the infernos we’ve witnessed in the UK this year.
